Zen Zone Hostel

Our room wasn’t cleaned before our arrival. This could be a rare occurrence though, so I wouldn’t judge the hostel by this one incident, but just beware.

It is more a house than it is a hostel, but it felt for me more comfortable that way. The living room, kitchen, bathroom, all very spacious. The room is clean, the bed comfortable. It is self check-in and check-out, so no one is there, but the host is easily contacted through Whatsapp and a phone call.

Check in was easy and the bus stop was close. Good commute to the old town.

The rooms did not seem to be cleaned properly. The shelves were dusty, there were socks left behind from previous guests, and there were multiple stains on the nightstand. The duvets and pillows were also quite worn out. There is a policy asking guests to remove the bedsheets and leave the room door open at checkout so that the self-cleaning robot can enter; otherwise, a cleaning fee may be charged. However, this system does not seem reliable, since someone could simply close the door after a guest has already left. The restroom is poorly designed — there is even a hole in the door because otherwise it would not open properly. The bar of soap stank.

Comfort n parking

Beds are always left unkept

The bed was very comfortable, and had a lot of room on the side to put books, water, clothes, charge phone, etc. The curtain made it very private. The shower and toilet were both good, although you have to hold the shower hose in your hand.

The check-in procedure was a bit complicated (at least for me). The shared kitchen area had enough space, but could have been a bit cleaner (maybe other guests were just not cleaning up so well). The worst part is that you have to make your own bed (and take off the sheets when you leave) and the pile of clean sheets and towels was damp, so hard to find one that was dry and smelled ok. One of the guests was not obeying the quiet hour rules, but this was my bad luck, nothing to do with the hostel. However, considering how far from town it was, I thought it could be a bit better value. At the very least they could advertise better that there actually is free parking available nearby-- I had to do a lot of research first to make sure I could actually park there.

Lights in the dorm dont work, lockers are broken, the beds were double booked and we woke up with a fight breaking out between two people at 4 am. There wasn't any soap in the bathroom. The place itself seems nice but honestly it was one of the worst experiences for me
