"Best welcome ever, best place, food, coast and city - a sentence is not enough!"

10.0

The property was just lovely, so quirky and so comfortable. There were lots of lovely touches that made us very happy, and lots of touches for any type of group, such as sandcastle packs ready for kids - awesome. The welcome pack was incredible too, with everything you won’t even know you wanted! A minute from the beach and harbour, lovely regenerated small town but also close to Sunderland for city sites, and a great base for the fantastic North East coast. We literally went to several fabulous beaches in 3 counties with minimal travelling - note traffic (lack of) is amazing if you live south of Leeds. We also went to Beamish Museum, National Glass Centre and the Stadium of Light (Bruce!), all in 5 days. A more niche note is that the north east area was fantastic at providing gluten free food - I’ve never eaten so well despite living in a city - very nice surprise. Simply the best place and the best area - thank you Midge.

"A bit of time and investment in the actual building and it would be 5*"

7.0

The location was great and central with ample parking but the accomodation was a little hard to find. A door plaque with the property name on it would be a great addition! The host left lots of little extra additions such as bathroom products, cakes , wine, milk etc. It was a lovely touch and the decor was amazing and really well put together. There was something different to see in each room ! We definatley felt at home. The bed in the main bedroom was really comfortable and we slept very well. To be honest we couldnt fault the set up or the amenities, they had literally thought of everything.

The actual building itself was quite run down. There was definatley a damp problem as you could smell it when you walked in and see it on the walls at the bottom of the stairs and in the bedrooms. The childrens bedroom had mold on the wall too. The cleaning wasnt great . There was a dirty cup on the windowsill with coffee in it and the fridge and cooker had food splatterings on them. The stairs needed hoovering and the floor was covered in bits which was unpleasant when we had been asked to remove our shoes on entry. Some of the wall was crumbling in the main bedroom and the bathroom mirror was loose.....it was such a shame as everything else was perfect!

"Nice and cosy if you need a break!"

7.0

It was so cosy and the amount of food that was there was amazing! Everything that was important was listed.

The only thing was when we had the heating on. It was still freezing in the front room. Was a bit hard to find but didn’t take long to find.
