Cape Dutch Flair Business unit

We were able to check in early, which was very thoughtful, although it would have been more useful to us if this information had been communicated to us earlier so that we could have planned accordingly. Lots of little snacks, fruit, milk, yogurt. Very safe & quiet area. Nicely equipped kitchen & everything was squeaky clean. Loved the loft feel of the place - the high ceiling gives an illusion of space & also helps with the heat of December in Cape Town. We didn't use the outside area as the weather was too hot, but I imagine it can be very peaceful & pleasant having a cup of tea in the morning sunshine (during less extreme weather). I do hope that the host actually reads my review & takes the time to think about what changes could be made to improve the overall guest experience, because we actually didn't have a great time and unfortunately won't be coming back.

Honestly a bit puzzled by the rave reviews as our experience, unfortunately, did not match others'. We were disappointed with some aspects of our stay, especially as we had such high hopes after such great reviews, and considering what we were paying for the place. Plus, it was non-refundable, so that just added insult to injury. A few negatives that stood out for us, and which all the complimentary rusks & coffee in the world couldn't have fixed, include... - We didn't get to meet the host once & communication was done by hasty WhatsApp voice notes. We definitely didn't feel like we, as guests, were the priority. E.g. I had to reach out to the host on the morning of our booking to find out how check-in works as there had been zero communication up until that point. There was also an incident with the alarm which we, as guests, shouldn't have had to deal with. The alarm went off in the main house (not where we were staying) & armed response arrived at the gate. We had to go down & talk to them. We couldn't reach the hosts on the phone to tell them what was happening & had to rely on sending a text to inform them of the situation. Luckily it wasn't an intruder situation, but it could have been. This shouldn't be a paying guest's responsibility. - Apparently there is an alarm on the property & we were expected to arm & disarm it, but this was never explained to us properly, so we ended up just ignoring the alarm altogether. It did cause a bit of anxiety wondering whether we should arm it, wondering whether someone else on the property had armed it & we were accidentally going to set it off, etc. All could have been avoided by better communication. - The bathroom...The door doesn't close properly & leaves one with less privacy than desired when it opens unexpectedly by itself.

Friendly staff and very willing and welcoming. Everything fresh and clean in the room

Need at least a microwave for take away meals. Bar fridge for refreshments to refrigerate during the evening.

The hosts were so accommodating for some extra requirements. We loved all the special touches and were pleasantly surprised at the peaceful surroundings. We're definitely going to stay there again.

Not a single criticism. It really fulfilled all our needs, and more.
