Edward's Burrow

We had planned to stay whilst visiting Glyndebourne, and it looked perfect for us (but we hadn’t realised in advance how restricted the parking was).

Turns out the local parking (as described in initial booking message) is very restricted- we didn’t stay because of this. The initial message mentioned 2 car parks nearby but they are limited to 2 or 4 hours, so not very useful for a longer stay in our case. Please note we didn’t actually end up staying, so I have added ratings based on photos etc (all looks lovely). The staff rating is lower as the owners emailed asking me to take down this review (which I have now edited, to reflect that we didn’t stay but that this was mainly due to a lack of clarity in the information they provided about parking). There are other parking options further away, but these weren’t feasible for us due to my mobility issues (which occurred since booking and mean I am currently an ambulatory wheelchair user).

Lovely find in the centre of Lewes but in a very quiet and safe area a short walk from everywhere. Lara and Tom were great- easily contactable and were kind to offer us an earlier check in time to suit our plans, which was very helpful. The accommodation is in the ground floor of their house with a separate entrance. There's a curtain going across the bottom of some stairs/ another door that leads to the rest of the house. It's nice to have the space of the hallway and there's lots of places to hang things, given the bedroom is quite small. They'd thought of everything you could need- water, kettle, biscuits, tea, coffee, hot choc, extra towels, local maps and leaflets of what's on... Everything was spotlessly clean. Shower was powerful and nice and hot. Bedroom has wireless heating control so you can get the room to a temperature you like, there's a seperate heater in the bathroom as I get a feeling it can be quite cold. Great WIFI as mobile signal in Lewes isn't great a lot of the time.

Bedroom was very cosy and won't be for everyone given the size and access but it worked well for us for 1 night's stay/base- they'd also configured it in the best way possible. The bed/ mattress could be more comfortable I think. As stated in the property description, this is in the ground floor of someones house so there are areas off limits and it might feel odd at first being in someone else's house, but it did feel private.
