Old Sarum House

The location

It wasn’t clean. Dusty, cobwebs and dirty oven, fridge, microwave and cups. Rusty broken racks in dishwasher. Cleaner came whilst we were there to change bedding and carry out a partial clean. Couldn’t use the kettle - riddled with limescale. The oven had one dirty shelf and one greasy enamel pan. There were no baking trays. Dirty pans (one didn’t have a handle). It didn’t have all the facilities stated. It didn’t have enough plates for four people (though these were brought first evening after contacting owner). It didn’t have sufficient utensils (no bread knife, scissors or pizza cutter). It had stained mattresses (no mattress protectors) and stained stale bedding. It had broken dining furniture. It had littered, overgrown garden with cigarette ends (no outdoor seating). TV with subscription only (no subscription no TV). The curtains in the living room were too short. No welcome pack stating where things were, or instructions/H&S advice. Fire blanket was on top of extractor above hob/oven. It was dirty, unkept and unwelcoming accommodation.

Spacious property and close to family. Liked having 2 bathrooms.

House desperately needs a bit of TLC and a good clean. Very sparce inside. Furniture broken or in disrepair e.g dining chairs, single bed. Microwave had food all inside of it on arrival which i had to clean before it was fit for purpose. Dog hairs on leather couch. Would have appreciated hangers for clothes. Couldn't find a hair dryer. The garden area needs attention. Grass very long and needs cutting. No outside furniture to sit on patio area. Bathroom would benefit from an extractor fan. The double mattress was very stained when we stripped the bedding when leaving. My partner was horrified. Needs replacing. This could be a much improved property and stay with further improvements.

Good position

Had to contact the owner as pots and pans were burnt and unusable and a lack of crockery overall. Couldn't use the garden as grass wasn't cut and full of high prickly weeds. No garden chairs to sit out either. Such a waste of a garden in lovely weather. Seeing I chose the property for a garden use for grandson. Owner left new crockery outside the following day after my contact and said he would get maintenance in when stay was finished. I emailed to say I was satisfied and this should have been made ready before my stay. However, no reply. Internet also poor and need your own TV Netflix packages etc.

it was very warm and comfortable, very well facilitated and clean! the house is in a great location and very quiet!

there is a building site near and my car was covered in dirt everyday before I left for work… the bathroom could do with some shelves or a little cupboard for storage but I’m just being picky!

Good location to explore the area, well priced. Good communication with host Adam especially as he was given short notice of our trip.

Nothing too much to report. The kitchen could be better equipped, though Adam did bring extra glasses and tea towels when we asked. Understandable given that we were the first guests to stay.
