"Great little place,"

Great location with amazing views all around. Very quiet , pub just up the road. The room was clean and comfortable. Jean was great host. Great value for money.

Breakfast was around a shared table, that might not be to everyones preference .

Jean is a lovely host. My friend and I were soaked by the heavy rain earlier that day. She kindly lent us the clothes hanger and even allowed us to turn on the heating for a short time so we could dry ourselves a bit. Not to mention the beautiful interior of the barn house and the delicious breakfast provided by Jean! Barn-Gill House is an extraordinary place to stay and to explore the traditional British countryside lifestyle. Will definitely come back again!

"I was misled that I had a booking. I paid in advance and, when I have arrived I was told to go away."

The host refused access to the property. I have shown her the confirmed booking and she still refused to allow me access to the property, to the rooom I have paid in advance for. The host claimed that she did not received the booking from you, that she had computer problems, that her technical support person has kept the computer shut down.

The host owner- showed me three printouts from booking.com, all with English names, if I remember correctly. She claimed she was full, despite seeing my confirmed reservation.

"Great location - last minute solo trip"

Jean was very accommodating and was available upon arrival to make sure I was settled. Very kind lady as despite I was needing to leave early, still offered Continental breakfast for me in the morning. The decor is not modernised however this shouldn't put you off, as this place felt like a welcoming family home. The location is fantastic, especially for hiking helvellyn or other local walks and close to the lakes. I would absolutely stay here again.

The fridge being next to the bed is a little noisy (standard fridge noise), however I sleep through anything so didn't bother me at all, just recommend if you are a light sleeper maybe pack some ear plugs. I also was happy that I got a fridge as was able to keep my lunch in it for the next day - bonus feature in my opinion.
