The design and the spaciousness of the rooms and premises. Very friendly staff who organised for us dinner & breakfast etc

The windows have only net, no glass, thus, it felt coldish during the night, and one could hear traffic. It was lowd, thoigh, not too many cars.

"Great place to stay in the heart of a nature reserve"

10.0

I absolutely loved my stay at the Casa! It is right in the heart of the Reserva Biosfera Tehuacan Cuicatlan, a spacious and comfortable house with everything I needed (I don't need a TV!). Jessica who looks after the house was just brilliant; it was easy to arrange everything with her in advance: my arrival, a tour guide to see the green macaws in a canyon nearby and a local cook who cooked dinner for me (although you can self acter as well as there is a kitchen)

Nothing!

"Grateful to see the Green Macaws at Canon Sabino but the home was not a tranquil experience"

4.0

This is a difficult review to write because of the disparity between the positive and the one significant negative. The motivation to come to Santa Maria Tecomavaca was to see Canon Sabino and the green macaws. This experience was magnificent! We are grateful to the hostess Jessica for connecting us to the guide Lolo. The stars, the typography, and seeing three pairs of macaws at dawn made for a dream come true. We appreciated Jessica's impeccable communication during our 3-day stay. She was responsive, friendly, and determined to give us a wonderful experience. She arranged for a local woman to prepare regional dishes and this was delightful. We also appreciated the support from Poncho (the guard). We also appreciated having a place to stay as there were minimal accomodations for tourists in this small town. The architecture of this home is gorgeous....HOWEVER,

However, the description of the location of the home as described on Booking.com did not accurately reflect the reality. Based on the description, we expected a peaceful and serene location and booked three days with an expectation for a restful and tranquil experience. We were also willing to pay more than double than any other place we booked while in Oaxaca. The reality is that the home is located about 50 meters from the main thoroughfare(Hwy 135). This means that the noise from every moto, bus, car and truck reverberated loudy into the bedroom and throughout the living room. The noise was fairly constant and relaxing there was not the experience we had hoped for. The pretty hammocks on the front patio do not provide for a peaceful experience. We advise the owners of this home (a woman in Holland) to accurately describe the location of this property (e.g., alongside Hwy 135). There are no "mountain views" from the house (it faces the road). We would like to have seen pictures that revealed the close proximity to the main road through town. Bottom line, we are grateful we had a place to stay so as to visit Canon Sabino. But want to advise others to bring ear plugs and manage your expectations!

This is a difficult review to write because of the disparity between the positives and the one significant negative. Our motivation for coming was to go to Canon de Sabinos. It was a magical experience with the stars, topography, and seeing three pairs of Green Macaws at dawn. It truly was a dream come true! Thank you to our hostess Jessica for arranging the guide Lolo. Lolo is an excellent and trustworthy guide. The communication with Alma prior to our trip was excellent. We appreciated Jessica’s impeccable service during our 3 day stay. She was responsive, friendly, and committed to give us a wonderful experience. She arranged for a local woman to prepare regional dishes and this was a delightful experience. We also appreciated the support from the guard Poncho. We are grateful to the owner for building an accommodation for tourists as there are minimal choices available in this small town. The architecture of the home is indeed gorgeous.

The online booking description of the location of the home did not accurately reflect the reality. Based on this description, we had the expectation that it would be a peaceful and serene location to rest. We were willing to pay significantly more for this “tranquil experience.” However, this house is located about 50 feet from the main thoroughfare (Hwy 135). Road noise from every moto, car, bus, and truck reverberated into the bedroom and living room. The noise was fairly constant and not the tranquil experience we anticipated. We advise the owner to accurately describe the location of the property. There is no “mountain view” as the home faces the road and a building across the street. Bottom line, do we recommend staying here so as to visit the Canon-YES! The Hwy 135 was in excellent condition and the views through the mountains were spectacular. There is a dirt path behind the house to walk to the river. BUT, mange your expectations! And bring ear plugs!
