Mermaid's Purse

We stayed 3 nights at Mermaid's Purse and the location was fantastic! It is a small house, perfect for two people and would have been great for a family with a kids as there is a second bedroom with two twin beds and a pullout couch in the living room. You can walk everywhere from the house. The beach is two houses away and there are a myriad of excellent options for eating, drinking and shopping within a 5-15 minute walk. At the corner of the street is a place to rent bikes, scooters, golf carts, etc. The house itself has all the amenities you could possibly need, there is even a heated pool. There is plenty of off street parking which could easily accommodate two or more cars. A screened in front porch was perfect for sitting and reading. There are beach chairs and a beach cart available for use. Anna Maria Island has a free trolley that runs the entire length of the island until 10:30 at night. If you want to explore the other parts of the island such as Holmes Beach or Bradenton Beach, you don't have to deal with driving and parking. The trolley stops are well marked and there are maps and timetables available. The only unusual thing is that the backdoor of the house open directly into the second bathroom, which we thought was a little odd. Overall, a great place and we would definitely stay here again!
