The Stone House

The views were beautiful as well as the house. It was nice to see the cows. The house is huge. There's wifi. Pool was clean. They supplied wood for braai, toilet paper and there was an ice machine. Kitchen is well equipped. Really lovely house. Beds are comfortable with heat blankets. Staff is friendly.

The noise. We drove very far to enjoy a quiet and private time. But the trucks working on the plantation, was extremely loud and noisy. No peace and quiet whatsoever. Only late at night. The workers also walked or drove back and forth on the property so no privacy. It was uncomfortable and ruined the whole experience.

The house is huge and can accommodate a big group but needs attention especially cleaning and maintenance.

A lot went wrong at this place during our stay. The road leading to the place is terrible made worse by the rain at the time. Suddenly back up generator malfunctioned and couldn’t be fixed in time. No rechargeable lights and candles were not enough. Had to harvest water from an outside tap. The garden was overgrown and lawn only cut on our day of arrival. Generally it was dirty with spiderwebs all over.

Sehr nettes Haus in schöner Lage / Natur

Keinerlei Beschilderung - wir kamen in der Dämmerung an und mussten herumirren und suchen. Es gab KEIN Schild zum Haus und zur Einfahrt. Das Haus gehört durchgecheckt - von oben bis unten. Kein Licht im Bad, weil in der Decke Wasser ist. Mosquitonetze in allen Bädern haben grosse Löcher und gehören erneuert. Türen schließen nicht richtig - Eingang / Ausgangstüren, Mosquitonetzte in den Gängen / Fenster fehlen komplett, Flecken in der Bettwäsche, NEUE Pfannen , sauberes Besteck, alles gehört grundgereinigt und ordentlich geputzt.

It’s quite spacious

During muddy season you need off road car you can get stuck in the mud and slippery road, we had a full 24 hour without electricity with no assistance especially from staff, poor back up generator, the food in the fridge went bad

The Stonehouse is set in a beautiful, peaceful location with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. The beds were very comfortable, allowing for a good night’s rest. We also appreciated the responsiveness of the assistant, who arranged for a water truck late in the evening when there was a shortage, which showed commitment to assisting guests.That said, our stay was affected by a few challenges. The interior felt a little cold and could benefit from a warmer, more inviting atmosphere. There were intermittent water shortages during our visit, and the availability of clean water was inconsistent. The electrical supply tripped several times from the distribution box, and the main toilet was not flushing properly and had a leak. Some bathrooms needed more thorough cleaning, particularly the last ensuite where mildew was present.Additionally, the electric blanket in the first room was not working, and some crockery was chipped while the cups were quite worn. Ongoing repairs were also taking place during our stay, which slightly impacted the sense of privacy and relaxation.With improved maintenance, more consistent utilities, and enhanced cleanliness, The Stonehouse has the potential to deliver an experience that truly matches its stunning setting.
