the village rua beach homestay

the fact that you can use swimming pool and restaurant at the beach resort saves this property. Swimming pool area is amazing! Beautiful, well maintained - just perfect. Bed was comfortable and wifi pretty strong for this location and that type of place

Room needed refresh, especially the walls. Staff didn't speak English and this is ok but they also were giggling a lot when you tried to communicate to them. I had a feeling that they weren't focusing on what I tried to convey but on the fact that bule speaks to them. it's pretty common in the less touristic areas but still not great

Budget option in Rua, Ben was really a great host, organized several day trips for me (in fact the every 3 full days I stayed there. And nice beach to walk before and after the trips

Very basic room, water stopped at night. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant at the resort. Breakfast was included, but dinner was expensive. Both the resort and homestay were empty.

Clean simple room Antonio let us use the pool

I liked the property but I have to say I would not recommend a single woman staying here alone. The first text exchange I had with him, he arranged for his staff to pick me up from town (which was nice). I asked him if he needed anything and he messaged back with a winky smiley face which gave me the ick. On my first night there, Antonio invited me for a walk on the beach I thought he was just being friendly. He grabbed my hand to hold it and I nervously laughed and pulled it away. He drank alcohol one evening and brought me a ‘free’ glass of wine (I noticed he did not offer this to the male friends I’d made). I then received a text late at night from him asking to hug which was pretty gross. He kept saying to the other guests that I was his ‘dream woman’. I tried to be polite and had reservations about writing this but to let women who are solo travellers know. That being said, the place is nice and good value for money, but I think he’s a lonely person and acting like this with his guests is wildly inappropriate.

The rooms are great and have all the comforts that you will need, for a good price! Antonio and the staff go above and beyond to help you with airport-pickups, motorbike rental, day trip-planning and make sure they have amazing food for dinner and breakfast. The location is perfect, just around the corner of Rua beach and many other places to visit nearby.
