奈良旅館 VILLA East West

Wanted to experience living in a traditional Japanese house. This villa is spacious, cozy, super clean and spotless. Living room, kitchen and bathroom are on 1st floor, huge bedroom on 2nd floor. Host provided everything, sufficient towels, utensils, cute tea cups, good cutlery, salt and oil for cooking, detergent for washing. Communication was clear, no parking on site, managed to find public parking 800 yen for 24 hours 1 minute walk away. My son loved the overall experience!

Stairs are narrow, steep and high. It’s not an issue with us but something to consider when traveling with kids or seniors.

It is a shame that the villa is so poorly managed as we can tell that the owners have invested significantly in the interior decor. The house is beautiful, blending Japanese traditional style and modern comforts, with heated flooring and sufficient air conditioning.

The villa is very poorly managed, and we completely agree with the latest review that it is not functional. The kitchenette is so sparsely equipped that you can barely have a comfort takeout meal - only 5 tiny plastic plates and glasses, with disposable-looking cutlery, a pot and a ladle. Forget about any kind of light cooking at all. The microwave / oven looks old and complicated to use, I couldn’t even figure out how to safely heat up food from Lawson’s. There are no knives or pans or proper mugs / cups / glasses provided. Why bother providing a kitchenette if all you can do is to boil water in there? Oh, and the trash bin in the kitchen is so small that it fits about one bento box before it’s full. There are no instructions on where you can dispose of combustible waste. The communication with the villa management is non-existent. I had sent more than 5 messages about 3 different topics, including luggage transfer, operating the appliances in the villa and trash disposal, but there was zero response over 4 days. Good luck if you need any kind of urgent help. Other aspects that were mentioned in the earlier comment that were an issue for us too: - No hooks / hangers in the doorway for coats - No hooks / storage in the bathroom for towels / change of clothes - No space for drying your clothes if you use the washing machine - No counter space anywhere in the apartment - Beautiful rice paper blinds in the bedroom that lets in the first light at sunrise - our toddler woke up 2 hrs earlier than usual every morning Location: it’s about 7 mins away from the Nara JR station and 10 mins from the start of Nara Park. Quiet residential street with not much food / coffee options within 5 mins walk. Not the worst location but not the most convenient if you’re traveling with big luggage.

There were several things that troubled us or need to be improved so that this place will even better. 1. We sent 2 messages regarding different topics) to the owner but never got reply. There were important matters to us so that it got us trouble. This hotel was highly rated so I hope that their custom service was as good as the property. Disappointed. 2. The interior of this property is really beautiful being remodeled to the traditional Japanese house. However it is not functional to use. A. There is no single place to hang a towel, not even in a bathroom. We were 5 of people so we had to put all the wet towels on the floors which didn’t feel clean. B.There is a washing mashing, but no hook, no place to hang. C. There is a cutting board, but there is no knife. No coffee mugs, no deep bowels, no cloth to wipe a table or a sink area. We used the little bath towel for the kitchen but again there is no place to hang. D. No place to hang coats on the 1st floor. We had to leave all our coats on the floor. If there were just 5 hooks on the entrance hall, that would make it much better. It was a beautiful property and we loved the interior and all the work the owner put into to remodel. So I hope that this feedback will help the property even better so the new customers can stay more comfortably.

This was likely the best accommodation of our entire trip. It was very new, spotlessly clean, spacious and well equipped. Two tv areas, one upstairs is ideal for children to hang out, which doubles as a bedroom, a small kitchen, excellent bathroom. We wish we smwere here for longer.

Nothing

Brand new and beautiful simple design. The tatami room had a huge flat screen and comfy bean bag. The neighborhood is very quiet and only a short walk to the Nara park.

The stairs are a little steep and going down them in the middle of the night was a little difficult for older guests.

This property was amazing that made our stay so comfortable. As soon as we entered the property, we noticed the beautiful smell of wood and the automatic lights and TV came on. The sitting area with Horigotatsu was perfectly done (save the space without chairs) and small details of Japanese gardens here and there; even from the bathtub! Upstairs was huge and another toilet was a bonus. I would definitely like to stay again when I visit Nara.

Slight difference from the station; especially if you have big luggage.
