Mau Beach House

We stayed at the Mauis Beach House for 11 nights in early September. The apartment is newly renovated and completely new furnished and in great condition. Maurizio is a super friendly host. He gave us a late check-in because our flight lands at 10:30 p.m. Unfortunately the flight was delayed by an hour and we didn't get there until just after midnight. But that wasn't a problem either. Maurizio gave us a friendly welcome and arranged an airport transfer in advance. Everything went smoothly. We can absolutely recommend the apartment! We were there as a family with our two children (5 + 9 years old). This meant we were able to perfectly combine sightseeing in Rome with a beach holiday. It takes about 30 minutes by metro from the Lido Centro train station to the Porto San Paolo train station, which is also the Piramide subway station (unfortunately Google Maps does not know this train connection. But there is a train every 20 minutes). A day ticket for all of Rome, including Ostia, currently costs 7.50,-€, a week ticket 24,-€. You can buy the ticket at Tabacchi at the train station or at the machine. You don't need a car either. It's better that way, because you have to be used to the traffic in Rome. Another advantage is that the car cannot be broken into or stolen  We walked 5 minutes to a nearby bus stop and took the bus in another 5 minutes. to the Lido Centro station. Thanks to Google Maps, taking the bus is easy. You can also easily walk from the apartment to the Lido Centro station in about 15 minutes. Maurizio has a list of restaurant recommendations and all the other information you might need. Just up the street (Via Giuliano da Sangallo) there is a bakery with sausages and a pizza counter. In the neighboring building there is Pizza in Piazza, where you can quickly grab a pizza and the delicious typical Roman Suppli. Choose this apartment! You won't regret it!

Lido di Ostia is a district of Rome. Ostia is not a beauty at first sight and there are not as many tourists as you would expect because of the nearness to Rome City and its seaside location. There is a lot of rubbish lying around and the area is not in a great condition. At second sight, however, you will find many good restaurants, a pedestrian zone, beautiful areas on the beach and you can really dip into real Italian life. The water quality is much better than it was two years ago.

The apartment was a perfect choice in every respect: clean, spacious, well-equipped, well-located, close to the beach. The owner is nice, very helpful. We strongly recommend it to everyone.
