Hound Tor Barn Dartmoor

Fantastic location. A little tricky to find, but we got there without too much trouble. Very cosy beds and cottage overall. Large spacious kitchen with a great cottage style oven range which kept the cottage very cosy, and was surprisingly easy to use. Great for a getaway with friends or family. The teen boys loved the board games in the lounge. Only 20 minutes away from Bovey Tracey, where Lidl has a rapid charging point for those with electric cars. And we were right in the middle of the moor, so really easy to visit lots of tors, the medieval village, and of course lots of ponies.

It was a bit tricky to find initially, a friendly farmer helped me in the right directly. Perhaps some photos of the actual junctions to turn at and the gravel path leading down to the courtyard might help in the future. Also, might be good to mention that the granite boulder on the turn at the top of the road is the last point to get a phone signal.

Super location to explore Dartmoor. Very friendly residential neighbors.

A great pity the house hasn't been looked after properly, especially the whole house wasn't clean or tidy wherever you turned upon our arrival and we ended up doing the whole cleaning job ourselves before we settled, especially the cooker, oven trays & sink.

Great location for Dartmoor walking tracks and the Tors. Hosts were very responsive and quick to resolve any issues. Very cosy log fire and several games with a small dvd selection available in the lounge area. Main bedroom was well kitted out with a comfortable bed. Good kitchen facilities - dishwasher, washing machine etc. with easy to use aga range cooker.

Sticky bench surfaces in kitchen and dining room. Some kitchen utensils and crockery needed washing. Lots of spiders and webs mainly in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom areas. Workmen walking daily past by our cottage. The two smaller bedrooms were compact for double beds.

The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious. Beautiful location in middle of Dartmoor, sheep, ponies, cattle abound. Stunning scenery.

Nothing. Slight problem understanding the heating easily resolved with the owner by text.

A few little niggly maintenance issues that hopefully will be fixed soon

Slightly tricky to find as tucked away but once there, this property is in utterly perfect spot on Dartmoor.. Views and scenery on walks from the property are stunning. We walked for miles and to the nearest village Widdecomb In The Moor where there are two pubs, an excellent cafe and gift shop! Note: this is a very hilly walk both ways. Wonderful open plan downstairs layout in the farmhouse - perfect for friends, plenty of space. Three excellent and comfortable bedrooms, with plentiful hot water for showers. Loved the wood burner with three sofas around it - couldn’t be better for a group visit. Also the kitchen is well equipped. Perfect for dogs, ours loved it but you must obtain prior permission beforehand as there are sheep loose everywhere so staying on the lead is an absolute must. Sarah the manager was very efficient and quick to respond to all questions!

The log basket had been forgotten to be filled but the manager Sarah rectified this within a few hours.

location was execellent. right in the middle of dartmoor national park. close to other beautiful villages and other lovely famous spot such as haytor and bonehill tor (5mins drive)

the cooker was not smooth to use. we managed to cook our meals but cooker didn't work smoothly.
