"Nightmare Experience"

1.0

The pictures on the listing look great, unfortunately they did not represent reality. Take for example the feature photo used on the listing. It shows a beautiful mountain view. The photographer displayed great editing skills as they have removed the power lines and transformer that is right in the middle of this view. Another bonus is no need to bring sound machines for the kids as the window AC units are loud enough to drown out any outside noise, Ugh.

First thing we noticed when we parked was that there was trash left in the yard from the previous renters such as beer cans and spent fireworks. Upon arrival you are greeted on camera by the host to give you the entry code. There are cameras on both porches' and you are being watched, CREEPY. Once we went inside we went to take in the great view as it was presented in the listing only to find that the view is impeded by by power lines and a transformer. As we looked at the large back window we were appalled at the amount of spider webs and live spiders inside the house. Almost every window had active spider webs. The counters were dusty so the first hour we spent cleaning the windows of spider webs, killing spiders and dusty counter tops. This property has no central AC, only old, moldy and loud window units. The next thing we noticed was that half the porch is taken up with a folding table supporting the cable satellite dish. As we walked around the porch all we could notice was all the bird droppings surrounding the house. So keep your shoes on. Not sure how old the pictures of the grill on the listing are, but that grill is crusty and rusty. If you are planning on using it you have to bring your own propane tank as the host do not guarantee the propane tank on property will have propane(you read that right). To start on the outside, the only level spot on the property is the parking pad. For the outside fire pit and chairs, the setting is a joke. 45+ degree slope is where these sit. But don't worry about sitting because 3 of the 4 chairs were damaged and unusable. Good news is there are plenty of half burnt logs laying around the property you can use in the firepit, but you will have to bring your own firewood if the burnt pieces are not your thing. When it was time to go to bed..surprise! there were no sheets on the beds. We had to make the beds ourselves.

"Great place to stay!!!"

10.0

This place was excellent. It's a great place to stay in the mountains. The driveway is tight like most places in Appalachia, but it opens up to a flat area behind the house. This was perfect for our large vehicle. I highly recommend this cabin.

A couple of the lights didn't work, but it didn't matter because there were plenty of other lights, the stairs were a little bouncy, but I looked they were secure. I'm a big guy. But it may be a good idea to have some lag bolts installed to secure them. Neither if these are complaints, just observations. This place is wonderful and I'll definitely stay here again.
