Nice, remote location, fantastic breakfast, nice staff, spacious rooms, well equipped. We liked the gin bar and nice terrace.

The rooms were nice, but in our opinion a bit pricey. I personally would not recommend the sushi dinner unless you have a small appetite. While the quality was very good, the portions were quite small for the rather high price compared to other restaurants on the island. I ordered the vegtarian menu, telling the staff beforehand that I was pregnant. They served an alcoholic dessert without offering any alternatives, which was a quite unfortunate ending of the evening.

The stay was very unique - modern but with a countryside feel. The hospitality was amazing, good breakfast with locally sourced ingredients, and an amazing gin library with incredible drinks. Would highly recommend, thank you for a great stay!

We booked this hotel completely by chance, without even reading the full description or offers—and it turned out to be way beyond our expectations! The staff — absolutely phenomenal! They don’t just sit behind the reception desk; they actually welcome you like an old friend, show you around, share stories, and even treat you to gin like you’re part of the family. Ruben, one love! And then there’s the Gin Library—honestly, it’s worth staying here just for that. Guests and staff all gather in this cozy library space, chatting like lifelong friends while sipping gin and tonics. The vibe is unbeatable. The rooms super cozy and perfectly set up, with breathtaking views of a lush green hill where cows graze peacefully—like a real-life Windows screensaver. You could just sit there and watch the scenery forever. Plus, there’s no TV in the room, which is a huge plus. You don’t need any distractions in such a peaceful place!

The breakfast is really tasty, but it does get a little repetitive if you’re there for more than a few days. That’s honestly the only downside to this place.

We had a nice stay. Location is good, breakfast is great. Thanks to everyone for this experience. Everyone tried to do their best for us. I can only recommend to have wider space to spend our time at this beautiful property grounds.

Très joli cadre, avec plusieurs espaces et jardins. Personnel au petits soins, très disponibles et attentifs. Petit déjeuner excellent avec produits maison. Le bar à Gin est un must !

All the team, especially Rubin, were so hospitable, super friendly and made our stay exceptional. We miss them (actually our G&T’s) already, while the sunset perfectly on the terrace. 3 days on Sao Miguel just wasn’t long enough. Two great restaurants were recommended, for fish, Cais 20, a busy locals haunt and Esquina Steakhouse. View from our window was lovely.

We received upgrade to the Ruin upon arrival as there was something with our room that we booked. The Ruin exceeded our expectations, it is very spacious, well designed with amazing views. Complimentary G&T and passion fruit beer were a nice touch. Ruben and Lemon were welcoming.

More salty options for breakfast, there was no ham or vegetables.

Ik miste een paar ligzetels of hangmatten om wat uit te rusten buiten met een boekje bv. Wijn aanbieden en kaasplankjes zou een extra troef kunnen zijn.

Super tolle Unterkunft mit den nettesten Angstellten die man sich vorstellen kann. Leckeres Frühstück was jeden Morgen frisch zubereitet wird, man hat mittags immer den Duft von dem frischgebackenen Brot und Kuchen aus der Küche gerochen. Gin o‘clock war fantastisch, vermisse ich jetzt schon. Wir werden aufjedenfall wieder kommen.

Solar Branco es mucho más que un simple alojamiento: es una experiencia que enriqueció aún más nuestra estancia en esta fantástica isla. Destaca la cordialidad de los propietarios, Caroline y Ali, así como la de todo el equipo, comenzando por Rubén, quien nos recibió en el aparcamiento y nos explicó todos los servicios del hotel. Las habitaciones sobresalen por su limpieza y su cálido diseño, con una presencia notable de madera que aporta un toque rústico y elegante al mismo tiempo. Disponen de calentador de agua para café/te, nevera, e incluso platos y cubiertos por si elijes cenar en la habitación. Diariamente reponen agua y cerveza local de forma gratuita. El desayuno es vegetariano, elaborado con ingredientes locales y productos cultivados en su propio huerto, como los huevos de sus propias gallinas. Todo lo que probamos fue delicioso. La experiencia en Gin Library es única. Cada tarde, en un ambiente relajado, los huéspedes pueden disfrutar gratuitamente de un gin tonic preparado de manera excepcional por el equipo, encabezado por Rubén, quien nos aconsejaba sobre los diferentes tipos de ginebra según nuestros gustos. Cuentan con una de las colecciones más extensas del mundo. No podemos dejar de mencionar a tres empleados muy especiales: Gina, Tony y Snowball, los tres gatos encargados de las relaciones públicas. Aunque todos son adorables, tuvimos una conexión especial con Snowball (el gato blanco sin orejas). Muchas gracias, Caroline, Ali, Rubén y a todo el equipo, por hacernos sentir tan bienvenidos durante una semana inolvidable.
