Castle View Hotel Samal

They view was exceptional and the food was great. The delivery of food was good. The size of the room was great.

A lot of construction going on. Loud due to construction workers and not much privacy as they were talking around the windows and staring while we used the pool. We were not able to use the hammocks and some tables as the construction workers were using them. I wish there was a gym or other facilities to use besides only the pool.

Amazing overlooking view from the pool, prices are reasonable

First the location, the road leading up to the resort is in very poor condition, you need a 4WD or a tank to get to it After 2 days the place changed internet provider with a small range of wifi coverage which resulted we lost internet in our room. The staff accommodated us by switching our room, however it was only available for limited days, ended up us moving back and forth multiple times throughout our two weeks stay. Not sure why they didn’t move the new people in our old room considering they were only staying a day or so, they should have accommodate us who stayed for two weeks. The cleaners sweeping the place at 6:30am resulting us getting waken up every day. If you need internet i recommend to book the beach view room.

The property is am amazing place for a romantic getaway The staff are quite friendly, the manager Kristine made extra efforts to try and settle me in They even organised a Motorbike tour of the Samal island The food portions are quite large and the food is quite nice

The property is isolated and takes 45 minutes to go by foot down to the city or approx 300 per trip down and back via tuk tuk. I was the only guest at the resort and traveling solo, it was very boring and nothing to do there. The organise tour on motorbike was good but it got too expensive with the additional entry costs that were added without asking which turned out to be very expensive. The place is awesome but the costs per night do not justify, maybe it is the cost of properties on the island. The WiFi was not working and so even the TV was not, both Booking.com and the property should have refunded for these hiccups. You have to choose your breakfast and dinner at check-in and the choices are not really very nice It would be much easier and cheaper to travel to Davao daily in the night and stay in a better hotel which is cheaper and has value for money.

The view was amazing. Very nice that you can see it from the pool. The garden/viewing area was also very nice, plenty of places to sit and see mount apo and the city. The food was also very good and brought fresh to your room. Also the air conditioning and fans kept the room very cold. This was the best stay I've had since coming to the Philippines and I'm glad I chose to propose to my girlfriend here. If you are looking for a romantic place to stay this is it!

None of these things ruined my experience I just think they could be improved upon. I loved the stay very much! ...The shower had very hot water however sometimes we would lose pressure and the heater wouldn't work. Just needed to wait a minute for it to pick back up again. Also the furniture was a little off. The table near the TV wasn't level and made it difficult to place things on it without them falling and there wasn't a night stand on both sides of the bed. Also we had a lot of power cuts. They were all very brief and probably because of the renovations they were making. The room had a refrigerator but didn't have a microwave but the staff did reheat our food for us. It also had coffee and tea but no way of making hot water unless you call the staff. Lastly the road leading up to the resort was a steep dirt/rocky road.
