This was the most comfortable place we have ever stayed. Our room was so spacious and the quality furnishings were great- from the kitchen appliances to the amazingly comfortable adjustable purple mattress bed and well- designed bathroom. The facilities and staff were so welcoming and made us feel at home. We had the opportunity to tour the lodge all the rooms available. Every room was unique, well designed and we would have happily stayed in any one of them. We especially enjoyed the public room which was the remodeled old Elks club bar where there was a nice fireplace, board games, tv, refreshments and plenty of seating to hang out. The history of the building as the old Elks club is really neat. We used the laundry room that was available and went home with all clean clothes- a nice bonus! The gym and sauna were nice, though we didn’t use them. The location is great and we were able to walk to many restaurants and shopping in both Hancock and Houghton within just a few minutes. It was great to walk across the bridge to the local brewery in Houghton and be able to walk back with no problems. Sitting outside on the deck and watching the boats and the bridge lift was so relaxing and there are small grills available if anyone wanted to barbecue out there. The parking lot is not currently paved but it was smooth and it wasn’t a problem. I understand the parking lot is going to be upgraded soon and will include more outdoor recreational space. We look forward to going back!
