Lavinia Bay Beach Hotel

Interesting….. we had a very comfortable room with great views to the sea/beach etc and the location was great affording access (via the railway track) to the beach. Staff made a sincere effort to look after you. Breakfast and the evening restaurant for dinner were exceptional.

This hotel is right on the beach which is why I chose it plus some good reviews. When I arrived, I was not given any information about breakfast, wifi or the pool. The phone in my room did not work so I went to reception to ask for the wifi password. No one was there and there was no bell. After I wandered around, I found a lovely pool and staff there were able to get me a cold drink. This area was a plus but seemed closed up. The next morning just after 7.30am, I found there was no hairdryer (said there was on booking.com) so went to reception (24 hours??) to get one and ask about the breakfast. I could not find anyone in the reception, restaurant or upstairs at the pool area. Finally, a staff member appeared and after half an hour brought a hairdryer and a menu to my room. By then, I had to leave so too late to get breakfast. Sadly, the room also smelt of old cigarette smoke.

Positives- The staff are kind and considerate- we could see they wanted to give a good impression and look after us. We booked for 2 nights- the rooms are air conditioned and spacious. Negatives- Unfortunately, the hotel itself is rundown and there are some significant issues with maintenance, cleanliness and general upkeep. The shower in our room had issues with its piping (water spouting from connections). The cleanliness of the bedding was the most significant issue for us. We only stayed here for two nights (and flew out on our last day), sadly I was bitten by bed bugs, and this is something that hotel management needs to deal with immediately - as well being something anyone looking to stay here should be VERY aware of.

I really enjoyed my stay at Lavinia Bay Beach Hotel 😊 The staff was so helpful and friendly! And the food was excellent! Room was big and clean. Location very good 100m from the beach, and good distance to town. They even arranged for me to have an early breakfast when I needed to go early to the inmigration office! I'm hoping to stay here again on my last night in Sri Lanka 😊

Filling Water bottles and room clean is everytime you must be asked . Morning breakfast you wait a long time because too little groups staffs are working there

Staff were exceptional, facilities were great, we felt really welcomed. Breakfast was wonderful. We booked last minute and they got our room ready and took our bags up straight away.

The only fault we could pick was that there was some dirt underneath the sheet on the bed. We weren’t affected by this though as the sheet itself was clean.

1st of all staff were amazing. It was a very easy check-in, and staff made you welcome and attended to your needs with a smile ( Mr Chamara and Miss Sarojini). My room was very spacious, and I had everything I needed. The bed was very comfy. Late night, I asked for a mobile phone charger, a few papers, and a pen, Mr Chamara gave it to me without saying no ,the srilankan breakfast is amazing and I use the swimming pool on the last day it was well maintained as well and had a lovely sea view. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay. Also, there is a short walk to the beach from the hotel.

Overall, there is nothing to say anything negative. Rooftop should have been more updated.
