Cat Ba Mystery Homestay

Cat Ba Mystery is exceptional, offering genuine warmth and hospitality. Thanh greeted us warmly, even letting us choose the room we felt most comfortable in. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained. Thanh and her lovely family genuinely care about their guests—she was especially thoughtful and attentive to my partner when she wasn't feeling well. Thanh made our stay stress-free by helping arrange anything we needed: laundry, scooter rentals, bicycles, taxis, boat tours, bus tickets, and fantastic local restaurant suggestions. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully tailored to our preferences. We enjoyed our stay so much—and there's so much to see and do from Cat Ba—that we even extended our visit. If you need anything during your stay, just ask Thanh directly. She genuinely wants guests to feel at home and comfortable, and she'll happily assist you straight away rather than having you wait or struggle with anything. Highly recommended—this homestay is outstanding value and truly welcoming.

Cat Ba Mystery is a small homestay away from the noise and crowds of Cat Ba. The room was nice and clean. But the real value of this place is Thanh, the host. She was a miracle maker. She put us on the boating trip very late. She took care of our return to Hanoi. She made wonderful breakfast. And she made recommendations on places to see. It was great to be hosted by Thanh.

The host was very nice and helpful. She gave us tips for excursions and helped us book a boat tour and rent a motorbike. She spoke good english and was quick to answer on whatsapp when she wasn't home. Her family members were nice as well even though they didn't speak english. The location was good, the place was clean enough and the bed very comfortable.

We were a bit sick when arriving there so we didn't get a proper chance to great everyone in the family and present ourselves. Unfortunately, the opportunity never came afterward and therefore we never got the offer to eat or hang out together, which is usually what we like in a homestay instead of a hotel. But we also didn't feel like asking, thinking they would offer if they wanted to, so it might have been our fault. About the place, there were some roosters in the neighborhood that didn't feel like we should sleep in the early morning. Would've been great as an alarm if we'd planned to watch sunrise though!

Very good value for money, different homemade breakfast each day. Very helpful family, helped us to book a great boat tour around Cat Ba, and very cheap motorbike hire.

The location is a bit far from the town, you need to drive or be willing to walk a lot.
