The Tennants Arms Hotel

The hotel is lovely and staff are friendly and helpful, thank you! The hotel is located perfectly for getting out and about in the dales.

Very average hotel/pub with reasonable pub food. Breakfast could have more variety if you didn’t want a full English you were left with toast and cornflakes! Room big and big bathroom good shower, bath, 2 sinks but the taps on one were very loose. Bed not very comfy and the decor needed some TLC as did the blinds at the bedroom window! Wouldn’t hurry back.

The staff were very hardworking, always cheerful and friendly, breakfast and restaurant meals were brilliant with plenty to eat, the building is in need of a bit of refurbishment but overall it is clean and very well run. We would be happy to return if in the area.

We felt welcomed. Our room was lovely and clean. We enjoyed our evening meal in a cosy area and the lady that served us was very kindly and welcoming

The location of the Hotel is amazing! Wonderful views of the Dales and nice walks nearby with views of the river Wharfe.

Staff were friendly and helpful but hotel was tired and in need of improvement. Food was good and plentyful but menu was limited.

Online photos of the property, did not reflect the actual condition of property. Photoshop? The bedrooms we were in had lots of issues which were not resolved at the time. The toilet did not refill after a flush, we were instructed to lift the cistern lid and operate water inlet valve with a finger so the cistern would fill. Also told that if the flush button was operated very slowly it may fill on its own? There was a pair of socks in our bed, previous guest maybe. Underneath the bedside cabinet I found a small can of sexual spray lubricant; almost empty I put it in the bin. My wife has stability issues and we were told that the property did not have rooms with walk-in shower. But one of the other guest, staying in the Nidderdale room had a walk in shower, booked later. We were in the Garsdale room, it had a shower over a bath. The shower head pointed towards the ceiling, adjustments to any other position caused it to fall into the bath. Switching between shower to bath tap, needed tools or fingers of steel - it was so stiff. The shower water adjustment is dangerous, it could only be set to scolding hot or cool. The property was very well heated, this was good because the window could not be fully closed. The full English breakfast was extremely over cooked, so much so that the black pudding shattered into bits when cut by a knife, like cutting into a potato crisp; the bacon was dried and crispy and the sausage awful. For the rest of our stay we stuck to poached eggs.

Good location for exploring upper wharfedale or going to kilnsey show as we were doing but overall a bit underwhelming the building is 400 years old so one can expect creaks and quirks in abundance but the tired and/or worn out nature of the rooms and facilities overcomes any charm it may have had The very photo they use of the door and porch is now somewhat ruined in reality by a worn out carpet and gaffer tape The staff were helpful and welcoming and the breakfast was good The bedroom was made up of a range of miscellaneous furniture and the tv needed a degree to locate bbc 1 The shower fixing was broken and it was impossible to get the mixers to deliver anything other than freezing cold or scolding hot water it did not make for a good start to the day The bed was comfy and we slept well except for the unfortunate false fire alarm that went off at 12.30am …the staff visited every room to reassure everyone but it was a while before we settled down again !! The evening menu was limited but ok Tbh we didn’t pay a lot for the two nights so I guess it lived up to what we paid for .Overall it was clean comfy and staff were helpful and it did what we needed in giving us a base for the show
