"I would go here again if ever I will go back to see Subterranean River because it is so near"

10.0

I like that it is quiet, near subterranean river where we were supposed to go. Also near the public market

Some things like linen were dirty.

"Great fun place to stay, a back-to-basics place in a great location"

The lady owner is very helpful and knowledgeable. But when she is away the rest of the staff do not quite meet her high standards!

We booked this hotel mainly to visit the Puerto Princesa Underground River. Our plan was to buy the tickets directly at the ticket office after arriving. However, the hotel front desk quoted us 1,500 pesos per person. When I asked about it, she said something like we would need to go very early to buy the tickets, and that tickets were only available in the morning. By the time we checked in, it was already dark, so I didn’t know the actual on-site ticket price. I thought to myself, this is the Philippines — even if they want to make some money, it shouldn’t be that much. The next day, we found out that the total official cost for the Underground River tour was only 1,000 pesos per person. The hotel basically just helped us buy the tickets and made a 500-peso profit per person — that’s 1,000 pesos for two people. The hotel itself was quite cheap by local standards, but as backpackers, seeing such a big markup on the park tickets really killed the vibe. We were originally planning to try the zipline and the mangrove boat tour as well, but after this experience, we just didn’t feel like doing anything anymore. It really killed the vibe. Honestly, I really don’t recommend booking tours through this hotel. You’re already there — it’s much better to buy the tickets directly yourself.

Nice property in lokal style. Accomodation simple but very nice, with Terrasse, inside green environment. Only a few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants. Hotel owner is very open and so helpful arranging underground tours or drives to other destinations. Even Sabang being a small village it’s very layed back and there full charming. I stayed three nights and enjoyed having stayed in Sabang and especially Cafe Sabang Guest House
