Newgate House, Sandwich

Excellent location, very comfortable space, considerate facilities, magnificent interior design. Received very detailed and tailored recommendations from Jane over the phone before our arrival. Parking was arranged through the vouchers available on property. A very lovely and memorable stay indeed.

Comfortable home for our weekend break. All the knick-knacks are a fun addition to the decoration.

Disappointed that we were not allowed to have a fire in the fireplace advertised as an amenity.

Lovely house, situated in a convenient location and close to all local amenities. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Nice little courtyard garden out the back. The sherry was a lovely touch upon arrival. Parking permits provided for £5.00 per day. We had a very enjoyable stay.

I think that it should be mentioned in the description that the stairs are very steep, especially if you are not able-bodied. I did mention upon booking to the Property Manager(s) that we were with our elderly parents, and nothing was mentioned that they may find it difficult getting up and down the stairs. Note that access to the top floor bedroom is by a slight spiral staircase with a ‘rope banister’ and also there is only one bathroom, which, with six of us, did make it difficult getting ready in the mornings! We had to pay an extra £30.00 to have the sofa bed made up in the second sitting room. Owing to the age of the house, it was very hot on the top floor where my husband and I slept, so the rooms could do with a fan for the summer months.

We loved the sumptuous and quirky decor (you could spend a rainy afternoon just admiring the house), and the luxury of two his 'n' her sitting rooms, which even with a family of four meant we could all spread out. Right in the heart of the old town, a minute's walk from fine restaurants (which Sandwich has in surprising number for such a small place.) We recommend taking the footpath out to Sandwich Bay to see the sea.

It is a very old house, so some uneven floors and low ceilings. Like much of Sandwich it is right out on the street so when opening the front door look out for passersby and speeding trucks.

The property was easy to get into with the door code box and the letting agents are extremely friendly and well informed. The property itself is well.laid out and very spacious the furnishings and beds are superb quality ,it's so lovely. It's in the heart of sandwich close to shops and excellent pubs and restaurants and the river trip to see the seals is outstanding.

The downside is only 1 bathroom but this isn't a problem and it's quite noisy in the mornings you can hear every word people say when walking down the street

Communication was fabulous; the house was spot on Lovely and clean ; beds comfortable, all facilities were good Easy access and a lovely period house

Nothing to be negative about

Newgate House was excellent. Very comfortable master bed, good size bathroom and well equipped kitchen - everything was thought through. Location great too, right in the middle of town with all the local facilities available. Would definitely stay agin!
