The location

Dirty, poor food, no water in rooms and then moved to a property without air con. Staff were young men who did not care, clean or smile.

"Ok, but not great."

7.0

1. The location. The resort located in the centre of the island, a lot activities happening during night time too around the resort 2. The room decoration. They took extra effort to decorate the room for our anniversary. The natural flowers and the leaves. Good effort.

For room that cost 300++ 1. The toilet. Rundown toilet, require maintainance and repairs. The toilet look so old, and dirty. Please do some maintainance. 2. No mug and kettle inside the room to boil hot water. Need to go to restaurants to cook maggie cup, drink tea or make your own 3in1 drinks. 3. No basic amneties provided. No toothbrush, no toothpaste. No shower cap 4. The resort has overbooking issues with booking.com website. No explaination up till now, how the issue can arise.Staffs should be more professional when handling this kind issue with customer. Please, try to offer alternative place to stay first before simply call your customers and tell them, your resort is cancelling their bookings when it was already comfirmed on booking.com website long time ago. People already pack their bag, plans itineries, when you simply call to cancel.

"Nice little island, with very nice people."

7.0

Loved the simplicity of the resort. Very peaceful, not many visitors even during the school holidays. The beach is very clean.

The resort looks old. Perhaps the management could could apply a new paint or remodel the swimming pool.

"Quite old facilities but staff are nice. Limited beach activities"

7.0

Room: We booked the cheapest room for RM330 per night, without food and boat transfer (2 Queen, 1 single, attached bathroom) for 3D2N. If you want boat transfer and food package, you can contact them directly and book with them. During check in, they upgraded us to room108 which is the nearest to the beach. Each room is its own chalet so you don't get much noise from other visitors. Facilities & Service: The day before arrival, the resort staff texted us to arrange our boat transfer time. Parking at Mersing Jetty is RM30 per night, right in front of Alun²s office (not shaded). The staff helped us to load our belongings to the boat. There's WiFi at lobby but not strong enough to reach every room. TV and Netflix available at lonby if you get bored. Overall their service is good and the staff did what they could. On WhatsApp they said there's microwave so we brought our own food, but when we arrived with our instant frozen food they said they don't have microwave. But they're kind enough to help us heat up our food via boiling To sum up, its a simple non-fancy place to be. It's an island of about 5-6 resorts (all about the same tier), a couple of run down grocery stores selling RM4 Twisties, but a rather clean beach. Bring a book and your own entertainment, take lots of nap, and swim/kayak by the ocean. As a Malaysian who is on budget, I'd say its a nice place to chill but I personally wouldn't return if I have more money to spend. Would rather pay additional RM200-400/night to go to a nicer island in Tioman or Redang haha

Room: The bedsheets and pillowsheet are grossly stained everywhere and quite smelly, so don't expect the best cleanliness. No housekeeping service during our 2 nights stay there either. I would advice visitors to bring their own pillowcase... Environment: The chalet is old but mgmt is new (Alun² acquired this resort from Aseania, which is closing down by phases). There are some sandflies and mosquitoes but not to the point that it's unbearable. Bring DEET to spray on your body Activities: We visited during ramadhan so activities such as island hopping is limited / depending on their mood lol. However we were able to get the 3-island hopping tour on our 2nd day and it costs RM80 per person. We got to snorkel at a few nearby islands but the view wasn't that great and water wasn't that clear. Corals are mostly dead and only 2 types of fishes. Got lucky and saw a turtle from very far tho. Alun² itself doesn't have kayak, so 2 of us rented from next door resort, Aseania at RM35 per 1hour per kayak. Food: A simple malay style lunch/dinner - rice with chicken, fried fish, egg etc will cost RM60-70. You can opt for full package which includes the meal if you're not picky with food taste (chicken was very dry and not fresh). My advice is to bring your own food and snack because they hike up the prices here Facilities: I read some reviews regarding electricity cut - it's because they use generator. The power comes back in a minute.
