Charming 1700s Country Cottage on a Private Estate

We had a fantastic five-day stay at this lovely property as a family of five (three adults and two young children, aged six and three). The house had more than enough space for all of us to relax comfortably, with the added bonus of a small games room—complete with a Super Nintendo—which even the adults enjoyed winding down with in the evenings! The house was immaculately clean, beautifully presented, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There’s a bathroom and a separate shower room, both located on the upper floors, which worked well for us. The garden and grounds were absolutely wonderful—plenty of space for the kids to run around, with a rope swing, garden seating, and even access to a rear paddock that guests are welcome to use. The private driveway and on-site parking made things super convenient. The hosts, Jennifer and James, along with their little daughter, were incredibly warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The location itself was perfect for exploring Stirling and the surrounding area. We visited Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, and Blair Drummond Safari Park—all just a short drive away. If you have kids, we also highly recommend the fantastic park at Causeway Park nearby. All in all, a brilliant stay in a wonderful home with kind and thoughtful hosts. We’d definitely recommend it and would happily return!

A couple of small suggestions for improvement: the kitchen could be a bit better stocked—basic cooking items like a chopping board, a functional cheese grater, and some herbs would really help, especially for longer stays like ours where we cooked most of our meals. Also worth noting is that the hosts have two friendly dogs, Betty and Bruce, who share the outdoor space. They were lovely and no trouble at all for us, but it might be useful for future guests (especially those less comfortable around dogs) to be aware of this in advance.

Absolutely massive place. Very nice beds. Great kitchen. The grounds are beautiful. This place is a very short drive to Stirling. The owners were super pleasant and gave excellent recommendations.

Nothing not to like.

The location was perfect, albeit slightly harder to find than we expected. The property is in a lovely setting, very tranquil and surrounded by nature. The house is comfortable and exceptionally clean.

Maybe better signage from the road and also more information about what to look out for as we did not expect to go through the large gates.

The Mid-Wing is roomy enough to comfortably accommodate a family of 6 in a genuine rustic setting. It was perfect to relax, the garden is beautiful in June. Well placed for visiting Stirling, Stirling University and the Ochil Hills. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. Quiet location surrounded by beautiful trees and birdsong. Highly recommended, comfy location for a dog-friendly family.
