"A perfect weekend stay at The Weights and Measures Office, Berwick Upon Tweed"

10.0

This is a little hidden gem of a place nestled between the city walls and the River Tweed at the historic dockside. Directions and instructions were emailed to me in advance so getting there was easy and entry to the property being simple enough. Arriving, we parked in the free car park next the property. The Weights and Measures Office is its own little piece of Berwick history and sits below the Old Customs House. Unusually deceptive in it's modest outward appearance, the apartment has a Tardis like feel to it's spacious interior. This is a well proportioned surprisingly modern apartment with a more than adequate kitchenette, living/dining area and separate bedroom and bathroom. The large double bed was heavenly in its comfort and a great night's sleep was had throughout the stay. Not to keep on about the bed but I've done a lot of travelling, stayed in a lot of places and by far this is one of the best places I've slept away from home! Cleanliness here couldn't be faulted and the bottle of Prosecco in the fridge was very welcome. There's also a nice little booklet with an interesting insight to the history of the property, directions to local amenities and more importantly recommendations for local restaurants. We ate according to the recommendations and were not disappointed. We had a 3 night long weekend stay here and it was perfect for our needs. Everything is in easy walking distance and there is so much to see and explore around the area. I'll definitely bookmark this accommodation and be back again in hopefully the not too distant future.

The parking! Just be aware that there is no private parking associated with this property. There is a free public car park to one side and just over the road and while you are pretty much guaranteed a parking space, the maximum stay is 24 hours. There is another similar 24 hour car park a few streets away and to keep ourselves right, we shuttled the car between the two so as not to exceed the 24 hour limit and avoid any potential ticket. If you want to park and leave your car for the duration of your stay, the nearest free parking without restrictions is across the river. It's a pleasant walk but a bit of a distance away. The parking issue is a very minor one but one to be aware of and barely distracts from this otherwise excellent place to stay.

"Cosy base for two."

9.0

Great location in the quayside and within Berwick town centre. The apartment was clean and cosy, perfect as a base for our trip to Northumberland. Communication with Sarah was great, prior and during our stay. We would highly recommend to friends and definitely look to book again if in the area.

"Cosy, comfortable and well located."

9.0

Great location, close to shops, waterfront and historical sites. Solidly built, cosy, warm ( underfloor heating ), v.clean, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, nice en suite, tv coffee maker etc. Attentive and helpful hosts. A word of warning if coming by train Berwick is on a hill it’s a nice walk to the property a little more energetic on the walk back, the river walk might be slightly easier on the return.

We are from overseas, as seems to be the norm so far in England, no tea towels supplied, which we find unusual.

Nice apartment, very convenient for the centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed and local restaurants. Very comfortable.

Parking is a slight inconvenience if you are not intending to use your car every day. There is free parking for 24 hours very close by but you have to move to another car park (only two minutes' walk away) for the next 24 hours. It's absolutely not a problem if you are going out (for more than four hours) every day.
