The Regent Phuket Bangtao Beach

I recently stayed at The Regent Bangtao, and while the hotel itself is nice with good facilities and friendly staff, my experience was significantly affected by ongoing construction and remodeling that I was not informed about before booking. From 9 AM to 4 PM, there was loud construction noise right next to my room—so loud that it woke me up every morning. When I complained to the reception, they told me there were no other rooms available. However, when I mentioned that I would reflect this in my review, they suddenly offered me an upgrade a day later—but for an additional charge. By that point, I refused, as it felt like an afterthought rather than genuine hospitality. What was most frustrating was the lack of transparency—I should have been informed about this before I booked my stay. Additionally, the reception staff did not seem to care about my inconvenience. Instead of showing concern, they acted indifferent, making me wonder why they assigned me a room right next to the construction site in the first place. Overall, this could have been a great stay, but the poor communication and lack of concern from the reception staff left a bad impression. If you’re considering booking here, I strongly advise confirming in advance whether construction is still ongoing to avoid the same experience.

The positive side is the off-street parking and the distance to Boat Avenue's tourist/local centre. There are great shops and restaurants in Boat Avenue. However, the road to Boat Avenue from the Regent is not fit for walking; it is narrow and busy. The pool was very nice, but there were no toilet facilities. The beds were good not too firm. There are two EV charging points at the hotel.

The Regent is undergoing restoration. The rooms (apartment) are spacious but old. The TV selection of 100+ Thai channels is not suitable for foreign tourists. We reached our apartment by passing painters and plastic sheets on the floor. I emphasise that this is only temporary. The Regent boasts a cafe, but it does not open until 10.00 am so not suitable for breakfast for most.

Large comfortable room, very comfortable bed and pillows, good seating/dining area. Good location for beach and shops - both 5 min drive
