The KirkHouse Bed and Breakfast

Our transportation was first the ferry, then our car, which we used to see the entire island, well worth the drive. The Kirkhouse (or is it Kirk House?? I've see it both ways) location is superb, as is breakfast. Very nice to have coffee set outside door before breakfast begins! The bed was very comfortable and the owner generously rented the film "Five Easy Pieces" for us when I mentioned it was partially set in the San Juan Islands. That was above and beyond! . Good wifi, no issues. And it's all on one floor, a bungalow, which wasn't clear to me in the room descriptions on the website.

I am very fond of Arts & Crafts design, so decor of house was pleasing to me. I would have enjoyed speaking with the owner(s) about this, but I think Steve hasn't researched that, and Renee was at her bank job. I had expected a small patio outside our french doors to the side of house, but there were only a few steps. I suggest that adding a small brick (or wood, or concrete) area for a bistro table and two chairs would really add to the experience on pretty days. Two housekeeping suggestions: add grab bar(s) in bathroom and replace the window/door treatment (the thin "netting" only) with the same but newer so it's not discolored. One day, if bathroom is enlarged, it would be nice to have the sink in the bathroom, not in the bedroom, but this really didn't bother us for our brief stay.

The beautiful home with great history. Amazing breakfast and close to town to walk off the delicious calories. Renee and Steve were excellent hosts! We're already looking forward to our next visit!

This beautiful home, the friendly owners and personal touches made this a very enjoyable stay! The home is comfortable and inviting. My bed was very comfortable and the linens were cozy and soft. I loved having doors to a semi-private outdoor space to let the cool breeze in at night and in the mornings. Coffee delivery in an adorable basket each morning at 7 and a delicious breakfast at 9 was a wonderful experience. After being busy with activities each day, I truly looked forward to the afternoon treat and chocolates that greeted me upon return. The location is within easy walking distance of downtown.

The view from the porch is of the highschool track, so not the best, but it really wasn't a big deal. The gardens around the house are pretty.

The breakfast was fantastic! The attention and recommendations of the hosts made all the difference on our stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean, we stayed in the trellis room and we loved it, it has a claw foot tub that my wife loved and we found treats every day in the common living and in our room. 7 minute walk to downtown and many restaurants and gift shops.
