"Perfect apartament for a short stay, I would definitely stay here again for €100/ night."

10.0

It’s a beautiful, large apartment, newly renovated with top quality furniture and appliances. Upon arrival we found a welcome gift from the owners (Luigi and Rita) with Sicilian sweets and a bottle of Sicilian organic almond body oil. Such a thoughtful and nice touch, we really appreciated the gesture ❤️. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for cooking. There’s an espresso machine and you can buy coffee pods at the supermarket (LIDL) which is located about 400 meters from the apartment, on Via Roma. The apartment located on Via Vittorio Emanuele at the intersection with Via Roma, which means it’s within walking distance from the Stazione Centrale (15 min walk or 3 stops on bus 101, €1.80 cash at the driver). All the major sites are within walking distance (Cathedral, Norman Palace, Teatro Massimo, etc) so you don’t need taxis or buses. A taxi to/ from the airport is about €55 and 40 min but there are also trains to/from the airport to Stazione Centrale (€6.80 and about 1 hr). We stayed there April 21-24 when the weather was a bit chilly, at night the temperatures dropped to 10C but the apartment has heat which you can control from a thermostat on the wall. There’s no lockbox on the outside of the building but the company that manages this apartment will send someone to check you in after you confirm the arrival time. The company is very responsive, they’re available by phone at all hours in case of emergencies or for anything else you might need. There’s a security guard in the inner courtyard of the building, for an added feeling of security. There’s also a 24/7 army post at the building corner in the back where there’s a square Piazza Borsa.

The only inconvenience would be that the street (Via Vittorio Emanuele) is packed with restaurants and cafes with tables outside on the sidewalk which means a lot of noise at night. I imagine during the high season it’s even worse than April. The bedroom windows face that way and there’s zero noise insulation because the windows are old style wood framed (huge beautiful windows, floor to ceiling but not sound proofed). The living room windows face an inner courtyard which means you hear the street noise less than in the bedroom. There are no window screens which means mosquitoes but I noticed that all over Italy, so not just in this apartment.
