Stone Castle, Dullstroom Country Estate

The setting was absolutely awesome and the house perfect for us. Its a litte far out of town and with us wanting to enjoy a few tastings in town, we arranged transport to collect and drop us off in town and return us early evening. The transport was expensive due to the distance but absolutely worth it. It would be awesome if the facility could have a ride share arrangement with a reliable local taxi just for this purpose an offer a negotiated rate. We would definitaly book again and stay even longer.

The directions provided was not very accurate which lead to a horrible gravel road. Best advice we got later on is put Highlands Gate Golf Estate as your destination and once you've reached it then put Dullstroom Country Estate in your maps, this will avoid the gravel road option which is only suitable for 4x4 vehicles.

Tranquil, beautiful location with amazing scenic views

Property is in need of maintenance. Linen & blankets have a number of stains. Property is not equipped for the cold usually experienced in dulstroom in winter. Refund of the deposit took longer than 5 days. No response to messages posted on booking.com app

The views are absolutely stunning. The setting is calm, serene and surrounded by nature, with wild animals roaming freely. It has the potential to be a truly beautiful and tranquil escape.

The property is in serious need of maintenance. A toilet flush lever broke on first use, and there was visible mold in the bathrooms. The two downstairs bedrooms smelled strongly of damp and were unusable. The listing advertised six double beds, but only two of the rooms had double beds; the rest were singles. There was no upfront warning that a 4x4 vehicle is essential)seriously, do not attempt without!). We were only informed the day before arrival that rain could make roads inaccessible, with no refund option and no assistance. Two of the five vehicles (both SUVs) had to be towed out. The address listed on Booking.com showed an in-town location, but the property is actually about 20km outside town on a very poor road. A R5,000 breakage deposit is also required, which was not clearly communicated beforehand. The guys that had to tow us out complained about the nonchalance of the owner and the fact this was not the first time they had to tow out guests. Well, shops are about 20km away and a high clearance vehicle is a must, also the pool was not as clean as we would have wanted it to be .

There is some deceptive advertising on Booking.com; it is said that all six-bed rooms have double beds, but this is not the case; some of them have bunkbeds. Similarly, there is no shared bathroom, so we had to share bathrooms with people who have toilets in their rooms.
