"3 Star Experience at a 5 Star Price"

4.0

A “5 Star” that acts like a 3 Star. The Fairmont has spacious rooms, but the overall experience was underwhelming for the price. The pools were fine but nothing memorable. We skipped the resort restaurants because there were better-rated options nearby. The service had no “fine touches” that said luxury. Think the service level of a Courtyard Marriott. Nice, but not special. The valet staff was excellent and the clear highlight of the service. Beyond that, service felt basic, especially at the pool and beach. We chose the Fairmont for its beach access and chair service, but the beach chair service ends at 4:30 p.m., and there is no food or drink service on the beach. To get anything, you have to walk back up into the resort, which is inconvenient. Pool service was also very limited. Several times there was no attendant available, so we had to get our own towels, and servers were hard to find. Across multiple visits, I was only checked on once. For a resort centered on the pool and beach experience, the service did not meet expectations.

"Not impressed"

4.0

I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately this stay has been extremely disappointing, especially considering the amount of money we paid for this vacation. Our stay is costing approximately $23,000, and for that price I expected a true luxury experience. Unfortunately, the service and overall experience have fallen far below expectations. One of the most frustrating issues has been the service at the restaurants. We ordered food for our family, our children were hungry, and after waiting more than an hour, we still had not received our food. When we asked about the delay, we were told that the staff was “trying their best” and that the resort was “understaffed.” While I understand that staffing challenges can happen, that is not something guests should be expected to absorb while paying full luxury-resort rates. If a resort cannot provide the level of service it advertises because of staffing shortages, that is a management issue, not a guest issue. The resort itself is also not nearly as impressive as I expected based on the reputation and pricing. The pool and waterslide area is poorly designed for families. Children constantly have to go up and down stairs, and the layout makes it difficult for parents to keep a close eye on them. It is simply not a convenient setup for families with younger children. The room arrangement was also disappointing. Having a king bed and a sofa bed for a family does not feel like a luxury accommodation. The sofa bed is uncomfortable and not what I would expect from a resort in this price category. While the staff has generally been polite, the overall level of service, attention to detail, and resort experience do not justify the premium price. In hindsight, I wish I had stayed at the Four Seasons. In my opinion, the difference in quality, service, and overall experience is significant. We still have several days remaining in our stay, but based on our experience so far, I would not return to this resort. I genuinely hope hotel management reaches out to discuss these concerns because for the amount we paid, I expected a world-class experience and unfortunately that has not been the case.

"Should be rated 3 star"

4.0

Pretty crappy for a supposed 5 star hotel. I’ll spare you all the details but the highlights were having a room above construction that started at 7am every morning and our maid trying to flush garbage down the toilet (seriously). They are having a gnat problem, which they acknowledged upon arrival, but there were numerous other bugs. Check in was very slow, when we added a second room close to our other room because I have a leg injury they picked a room maybe 200 yards away. With a view of the parking lot. For $11K a week. At a 5 star hotel. We then waited about an hour for them to get another room ready. As an added plus my wife had two partially used bottles of mouthwash. Lastly there is no water in the room. They have one dispenser per floor at this giant hotel and they give you a water bottle. The last thing I want to do when I get done with a long day of travel is hunt down water. We stayed at the Fairmont Del Mar immediately after on this trip… they had two large reusable glass bottles of water in the room. Genius! I strongly encourage the management of this garbage hotel to go to the Del Mar property to see how to run a hotel.

"Excellent start to our honeymoon"

10.0

We loved our 3 night stay. Our suite was fantastic - very spacious, clean, comfortable and with an amazing view. Housekeeping was also top notch. We had 2 minor issues getting to the room. The 1st was a missed cleaning spot in the room but Housekeeping promptly came and fixed the oversight. The 2nd was a maintenance issue with the automatic drapes - they didnt work. Unfortunately maintenance never came or fixed them during our 3 days there despite raising the issue immediately after checking in. My biggest "gripe" would be pool seating. There are just too many paid cabanas (most of which were empty). It's a bit tacky to remove so much free seating in am effort to drive customers to soend +325/day for a cabana. Also, some of the pool was in need of maintenance and upkeep. Overall, though, we had a wonderful time. The food was great too at the various restaurants (including pool side service). We'd definitely return. Overall I'd rate this hotel more as 4.5 stars.

"Maui perfection is at the Fairmont Kea Lani"

10.0

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Family Getaway at Fairmont Kea Lani Our stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Every visit reminds us why this is our favorite place to spend quality time with family. One of the highlights was our incredible dinner at Ko. The food was exceptional, and our server, Leanne, provided outstanding service that made the evening even more special. We'd also like to give a special thank you to Peni, the General Manager, whose leadership and hospitality are evident throughout the entire dinner experience. Shout out to culinary for the amazing dishes! We spent many relaxing hours by the pool, where we always had the perfect seats and received amazing service. A huge mahalo to Kat, Allen, and Leko for taking such great care of us. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine aloha spirit made our vacation unforgettable. From the beautiful grounds and luxurious accommodations to the exceptional staff, the Fairmont Kea Lani consistently exceeds our expectations. There is truly no other place we would rather spend time with our family. Thank you to everyone at the Fairmont Kea Lani for your continued hospitality. We can't wait to return!

"10 THINGS THAT MAKE FAIRMONT KEA LANI FEEL LIKE A 4 STAR HOTEL RATHER THAN A 5 STAR"

4.0

1. Impersonal service. Hard to reach a human being. The phones in your room are all answered by AI. It’s super frustrating. When you call into the hotel from the outside, the lines are also answered by AI and you have to sit and listen to several repeated prompts. It’s maddening. 2. Limited dining menus. Whether it’s room service or at one of the restaurants, they strive to have as few items/choices on the menu as possible, making you feel like you will get sick of these food choices after two days. 3. Cheap uncomfortable furniture on the decks. Overall, sterile vibe on the balconies, which is unfortunate since you want to spend a significant portion of time there 4. Poor selection at gift stores. In the book section of one of the stores, they only offered six books as one example. This is where the four seasons shine by comparison. 5. The quality of the staff is hit or miss. And when it’s a miss, it’s really bad. 6. The Concierge team is not great and makes you wait excessively long times to fulfill your requests. If you phone down a request to them, they will set your task aside and just continue to help people in front of them who are in line without telling you about the delay. It’s super frustrating. 7. There are no managers who greet you or say hello or who seem to be around. 8. They have no tennis and no Pickleball courts and no access to any Pickleball courts! Boooooo 9. Both times I’ve been here. There’s been absolutely zero water in the rooms and they make you go hunt for your water and walk to far away places to fill your water at filling stations that are sometimes out of order. 10. Nothing in the mini bars. No drinks. No water. No snacks. Really doesn’t feel like a five star hotel when basic amenities and basic service are missing.

"Read reviews before booking."

4.0

The hotel has beautiful views but certain younger female staff were very unfriendly, room accommodations were very horrible, we waited 4 hours for an early check-in reservation, that was clear could be accommodated but was not on a Wednesday check-in, first note if you book “Mountain View “ they will give you a view of a parking lot and some trees, my sister who booked a direct ocean view got a partial ocean view then later we saw my families room was infested with gnats. They ran across the ceiling over their beds from the left all the way to the ride side of the double beds, while staff wanted to spray something and try to vacuumed, problem was this was over the bed directly!!! we requested them moved and while my family is all on one side of the hotel they moved My 75 y/o father to the other side, bring bug spray and apple cider vinegar you will need it if you do stay here. the food at the hotel is lacking, they have an overpriced market place that is under staffed serving pizza and sandwiches and ice cream. Food at the pools is not served until 11am at which point all of the families and people by the pool are ready to order, waiting in a long line to order while seated, we booked a cabana one day barely got checked on 3x in an. 8 hour period you will be flagging people down for drinks, one day we asked for a pool side pineapple and they ran out by 2 pm. There is no music by the pools so be prepared to bring your own speaker or enjoy silence, Ko is the only place with ok food which also seems to handle poolside service. We noticed most people staying here always left the property because it had no activities other than feeding the koy fish. Dinner is when most people left this property to eat elsewhere , other locations like monkeypod, and carrreras have great food and is close distance to the hotel, a plus is they offer 24 hour shuttle service to locations within 3 miles of the hotel. The shops which are also close with better food options are nearby but who wanted to leave the hotel every time for lunch n dinner. Breakfast buffet is the only best option here as they offer fresh fruit and freshly prepared items at your fingertips
