Monastery apartment with Loch Ness view

Exceptional location and beautiful building. Perfect location for both Loch Ness and fort Augustus, with only a few minutes walk to both. Staff 10/10 for friendliness, helpfulness, knowledge and service. We ate at the restaurant on site and it was also really good.

Although the building was amazing, the flat itself was very ordinary. Nice views of the loch if standing in the living room, but otherwise it was unremarkable. For a property of this calibre I was also surprised by the lack of decent coffee (there was only cheap instant coffee) and what appeared to be black mould around some of the window frames.

The grounds and the main Abby complex is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The location is perfect with a short stroll across the grounds to all the main restaurants and shops. Parking was also ample. The bed was reasonably comfortable, however there was a lack of extra blankets which we needed, so we were cold at night.

The apartment we stayed in (M10) lacked any styling and felt as if we were staying in a student dorm with brick-a-brack furniture. The view was incredible from the window overlooking Loch Ness, however you need to be standing up to see it which is a shame. The toilet flushed now and then, and sometimes not at all and the shower door wouldn’t close properly so water would get everywhere on the floor. The light in the bathroom was very dim, and the doors to all the internal rooms have old school closing mechanisms like a school classroom that meant you couldn’t leave a door open for more light. We also used the washing machine, but the drying function wouldn’t work. To top it off you need to walk up 2 flights of stairs which wasn’t clearly advertised, and caused problems with my husband who has a knee injury. This place would be spectacular and worth the money if improvements were made to the level of maintenance and comfort.

The 10am check for a Sunday was really unfortunate, especially if only staying one night. The pool is private to the public, not other residents, this could be clearer.

The place was indeed magic. The apartment was nice and clean with a great view. The wonderful buildings and a very nice pool with a fantastic pool. The Lounge and the garden was very charming.

Thank you Elena for the excellent tour of the building and facilities. It is one of the best welcomes I've received in a long time. Everything was effortless and was especally greatful to be offered ground floor accomodation when Elena could see I struggled with the stairs! Even my endless questions were welcomed and answered with genuine care and consideration. All the staff and residents were welcoming, friendly and felt like family!

No lifts. It is something you need to consider when booking if you have mobility issues.

Bang on the Loch. Historic place with a beautiful view and you can read about the history throughout the property. Elena, our highland club staff member, was an absolutely amazing person and helped us so much and has a great sense of humour!!
