Afton Thatch: Beautiful Thatched Family Cottage

Lovely old cottage , lovely area and large garden

Some lovely pieces of furniture, but soft furnishings need updating for comfort , bed settee uncomfortable, plumbing needs maintenance, water leak in middle bathroom came through into middle lounge

It's a beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. The garden was amazing and we enjoyed it very much. The kitchen is nice and spacious. The bedrooms were comfy. It's nice how they maintained the old style feel throughout the cottage.

The cottage can do with some maintenance. The living rooms downstairs had a strong smell of damp and the furniture is too old and uncomfortable. The bath leaks and needs repair, so you can only have a very quick shower.

I loved how it was dripping with charm. Absolutely beautiful. The cottage was perfect for our type of travel in the sense that we felt we had been immersed into the local history. It was exactly what we were looking for.

In our group we had 3 elderly. I don’t recommend the property for the elderly because of low ceilings and tricky staircases. It is laid out in the description that this would be the case so we were prepared but it was still a surprise. The rugs are quite in need of being replaced. The shower upstairs leaks down to the downstairs (again it was put into the description but it is evident that the shower needs desperately to be replaced) which results in a musty smell in the living room due to previous renters.

Lovely location and the kitchen was well equipped

TV didn’t work. Parking wasn’t the Best.

Amazing old thatched cottage with everything you need - especially for a big group. Kitchen was well equipped, house was clean, amazing big lawn with garden furniture. Loved our stay!

Only minor issue was with sofa bed which wasn’t great for 2 adults so they ended up putting the mattress on the floor (which was fine!)
