Adorable Studio Space in Private Carriage House

It’s in a good area of DC.

-I was overwhelmed by so many messages from the host before checking in. -there’s no parking nearby -there’s so many rats in the alley, I dreaded the walk to get into the place -I couldn’t sleep comfortably because the fan in the room only works with the light. -there’s no place to plug my phone in near the bed. The outlets on the floor weren’t made for iPhone chargers -the bathroom floor being fully wet after a shower - the dishes were dirty. The mugs I grabbed for coffee had lipstick and other stains - all the windows aren’t covered and I felt like the host could easily see me if they walked by -the bathroom didn’t have good lighting

The studio is indeed adorable. Is very well-kept, has a lot of amenities, is clean and has just everything you need. The host is really attentive and is alert to any messages one sends. The neighborhood is fantastic, very close to a metro station, to bars and to a Trader Joe's. The host left us coffee, tea and some spices. Overall great place.

The bed is a full size (we knew this beforehand). For two people, it comes out a bit too small. A queen bed would be better. The neighborhood is safe, and the apartment is great, but the way to enter is horrible. You have to walk through an alley which had three dead rats in different parts of it. It seems that it never gets cleaned. Looks shady, even though it's sorrounded by wonderful urbanism. It was really the worst part of our day to enter the studio, until we finally got it and breathed a sigh of relief. Also, the shower has no walls, so the bathroom can get a bit flooded.

My stay in Washington, D.C. (December 30 – January 1) was impossible because the accommodation was completely uninhabitable upon arrival. The entrance was located in a back alley and the snow had not been cleared, making access unsafe. More seriously, the unit had no heating and no running water because the pipes were frozen. The interior temperature was freezing, and the property could not be used. As a result, I was forced to leave immediately and book a hotel at my own expense. This was not a minor inconvenience but a fundamental failure to provide the lodging service that was advertised and paid for. The experience caused significant disruption, and I am still seeking full reimbursement. Travelers should be aware of the risk of basic habitability failures, particularly during winter conditions.

Great place to stay! It’s charming, clean, quiet and the location is awesome. If you plan on enjoying the U street corridor, then this is the place to be. Communicating was easy, and all questions were responded to promptly.

We loved the spiral staircase going into the carriage house as it added to the charm. However, if you have mobility issues, then it may not be the best option you.

The property was great for a weekend stay! Had everything we needed for the trip.

I wish that it would have had a TV! And maybe a couple more pillows because it only had two. Otherwise, highly recommend.
