Private room with separate bathroom and carpark

driveway was a challenge. better for smaller vehicles not ideal for a van.

This is the second time I've stayed here and it was a last minute booking due to a very terrible experience elsewhere. Coming back to Dotty and Henry's place was such a relief! Clean and welcoming despite them having to reset the room rather quickly. Having the bathtub was definitely a highlight for me, as well as chatting with them in the dining/kitchen area. We had a shared brunch together and I really appreciated being treated more like a friend or family member rather than a customer. The evening porch lights were also a nice touch. Awesome hospitality again and many thanks for my room rescue! :D

Nothing I didn't like, except I might not be able to stay in the future due to a change in circumstances.

More than just a room. Dotty and her family were amazing! They were so kind with me. They make me feel like at home. The room is absolutely beautiful and comfortable with a lot of space for your luggage. Private bathroom with a big shower and all the products that you need. The kitchen was clean, tidy and full equipped with also coffee, tea and other things available. You have your own entrance and a big carpark. Really good position, out from the busy Auckland but still really easy to get to the city center by bus. Absolutely enjoyed my time there!

Nothing really. I did suggest a hook for hanging your jacket or dressing gown in the bathroom and bedroom on the door. Also a non slip mat in the shower. And maybe a house number so you know which one it is as lots of houses up the drive .

What's not to like? The room is decent, the bed is comfortable, and the shower runs hot. Dotty is an excellent host, and if I'm ever in the area again, this will be my first choice for accommodation. We had a great conversation over dinner.

This was a great, clean place to stay in a quiet, residential area with friendly hosts. The room was as advertised (double bed) and you have exclusive use of the bathroom on the ground level. I loved that there was a bathtub! However, if you are a big and tall person, the bathtub might not be as comfortable since it seems a little narrow. They had some separate space available in the fridge for you and were generous with sharing their tea, coffee, milk, produce from the garden and cooking basics (oil, salt, pepper, etc). I felt very comfortable and "at home" with it being a shoes off household and all the floors were super clean. The hosts take pride in their home and it shows in their attention to overall cleanliness and keeping their spaces tidy and neat. We had a lot of good conversations together, but they were also very considerate of me having independent time too. By the end of the stay, they felt like friends and since my family came to pick me up, they welcomed them in for a short visit (and a coffee). Nearby there are some takeaway shops for lazy meals (about 5 minutes walk) and Glenfield Mall is about a 20 minute walk up a small incline. Their recommendation for nearby takeaway food was Chartwell Chinese & European Takeaways (pretty good for takeaway Chinese food) and Paasha (shish kebab were excellent!) near the mall. I also visited the nearby Kauri Glen Reserve in Northcote/Birkenhead for a walk and highly recommend it.

The guest bathroom isn't normally used by the residents of this home, so I think a more thorough clean of the shower area (especially grout) would have been my preference. I already talked to the hosts about the mould on the shower curtain and they will likely replace it with a new one. :) Other than this, there was nothing I didn't like!

Nice private location. quiet and comfortable. Hosts were friendly.
