"A taste of the North for a long weekend!"

9.0

Sean was there and not 'remote' and he answered the door, which was such a welcome after travelling for 7 hours on trains and buses. I got a thorough tour and everything had been thought of! The location was very close to the station with THE bustop I needed near the railway station too. The Town Centre and eateries plus town hall and castle were just 3/4 mile and a comfortable walk there and back - yes it suited me perfectly. It is a friendly town with helpful people and two supermarkets close by and VERY convenient for 'Locomotion' at Shildon, the Weardale Railway, the Northern Pennines and Saltburn on the East Coast. Darlington, Durham, York and Newcastle just a rail trip away and Beamish Open Air Museum and the Lake District accessible by car. It was also great to chat to Sean at the end of the day. He is very knowledgeable and could help with directions etc.

It was good. I immediately felt at home. Nothing to complain about. A few quirky things like key holes, windows and a firm pillow plus old bedside lampshade. One small thing was some rubbish in the bins on arrival. Little things easily sorted!!! Thank you Sean

"Comfortable stay not too far off the A68"

8.0

Sincere welcome and comprehensive tour of facilities. Excellent to have use of microwave and fridge. Top class wi-fi too. Modest sized but comfortable single room and no problems with shared bathroom. All in all very good value for money.

Very minor niggle but I could see parking being a problem for some, fine for me but a busier night might have seen more than a short walk to the stay.

"Excellent good value accommodation near to the station."

8.0

I was expecting a basic room with a bathroom down the corridor, and that's all. But there were lots of extras - a choice of bedding, a fridge outside the door with milk and filtered water, breakfast for-the-taking, no smoking, opportunity to use the kitchen if I wanted to. Really close to the train station. Excellent response from the landlord to the problem outlined below. Excellent value.

The radiator was efficient and couldn't be adjusted. Open the window and there's traffic noise until around midnight. Rather a long walk to the interesting parts of town.
