The bed was comfortable

The first night we were trapped in our apartment. The door had several locks and one of them wouldn't open the next morning. Luckily, we had friends in Cardiff who came to our rescue. We threw the keys out of the window and my friend opened the door from the outside. It was as if we had been locked in the apartment the first night. The next day, somehow it didn't happen again

Liked that no one broke in during the stay

We stayed here over the weekend. It is as the top of the building, of 4 other flats. The people in this building are definitely smokers and the smell was present in the apartment and previous guests must have smoked in the apartment too. The smell did ruin our stay as it made us feel quite sick and caused headaches and the windows were open the whole weekend meaning it was cold but it was necessary however the smell never got better it seemed to get worse, possibly because it is situated in a building where people smoke. The walk up to the apartment, the stairwell is very dirty and when entering the apartment the carpet and laminate flooring also is not clean. The door had lots of locks but is more of a firedoor/door you would find to a bedroom rather than front door and had a larger gap allowing the smell to seep in from the other apartments and hallway. The bathroom has a very awkward setup meaning you are unable to shower standing up and there is no form of shower curtain or door so water gets everywhere. Black mould is also present around the bathroom and tub with paint falling off the wall. The bed to sleep, luckily we brought our own bedding just incase and glad we did as there were hairs on the sheets, the bed is however firm and quite comfortable. Unless the smell can be removed somehow, maybe taking up the carpets and flooring and the bathroom be cleaned and maybe a different setup for the shower over bath, then it is not really worth staying, even for the price as it was near enough unbearable with the smell but luckily we only really used the apartment to get ready in and then sleep.

Location was convenient for access to centre of Cardiff

Smoking in other flats permeates the whole house. Tv didn't work. Lock jammed trapping us in the flat which is at the very top of the flat. Took us 10 minutes to open the door which in the event of a fire would have been potentially very dangerous. We then couldn't shut the door as the latch wouldn't retract. We couldn't leave our belongings there. No response from the owner or from BOOKING.COM to our reporting this so in the end we were forced to pay for accommodation elsewhere.

 The house was tidy and clean. The location is perfect, as the city center is not far away and basic necessary shops are nearby. The property has been well managed. The owner helped us on two occasions with kindness. My family had a great time there.
