"Hidden gem and best place I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka."

10.0

How do I begin to describe what my stay at Jungle Life was like. Gisela is a beautiful soul that has created a magical sanctuary nestled upon a hill between a jungle and tea fields that feels like home away from home. You wake up every morning to the most stunning sunrise and sounds of nature. Across the road are the most delicious rotis and vadas you’ll have. Adisham monestary a short walk away. If you’re a hiker, it’s an excellent location for pekoe trails 12 and 13. If you’re looking for a soul nourishing and restful place, this is for you. I stayed longer than I had planned, learnt a lot about Hindu and Tamil culture, and know I will be back to this magical space again. Thank you Gisela for all the beautiful moments and thoughtful touches. I will miss her and all the dogs (that she rescued!) and calming surroundings, till we meet again!

Nothing. Will be back.

"Exceptional time living in a traditional, century old home"

10.0

Amazing woman in an amazing location. The entire take is “rustic living” in Sri Lanka: boiled water for the shower with natural herbs from the garden, home cooked food over an open fire, and the best sleep you’ll get in town. I’ve stayed in many Homestay across South Asia — nothing have compared to the quality and hospitality of this. Thanks so much Gesheila :)

"Fantastic nature & simple life"

10.0

The experience we had in the mesmerizing nature that surrounded us was truly remarkable. We owe all the credit to Gisela Sivam, who has proven to be the best host we have encountered so far. She offers a unique staycation in a spectacular location. Gisela is a professional, polite, accommodating, and friendly host, with a great sense of hospitality. We truly appreciate her initiative in creating a getaway concept next to Tangamale Sanctuary. It is absolutely brilliant! "The Jungle Life" homestay is located next to Tangamale Sanctuary, just 4 km from the beautiful town of Haputale and very close to the famous Adisham Bungalow. The accommodation is situated on top of a mountain, which requires climbing about 40 to 50 steps. However, the fresh air and the surrounding flora and fauna will leave you in awe. The rooms are decent, providing all the basic necessities, spaciousness, adequate lighting, water supply, electric outlets, and LPG for cooking. Lanterns are provided for the unit next to the jungle, but we stayed in the main unit due to having our 6-month-old baby. All the necessary kitchen utensils were available, allowing us to cook our own food and enjoy the scenic surroundings and horizon. The place is pet-friendly, and you may come across a couple of puppies, but they are not aggressive. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the flora and landscape by taking walks, and sipping a cup of tea in the morning is an unparalleled experience. Dining on the designated terrace, overlooking the beautiful mountain range on the horizon, is truly breathtaking. The fresh water from the well is the best, although it can be quite cold. There are many attractions to see in the vicinity, such as Adisham Bungalow, Lipton Seat, and Diyathalawa, which we highly recommend. Watching the sunrise at Lipton Seat is a must-see. Overall, our stay at "The Jungle Life" was a memorable experience, providing us with a home away from home feeling.
