"Better Than the Photos — Absolutely Incredible! A Hidden Paradise"

10.0

Where do I even start... this place exceeded my expectations by far and is better in person. I love and appreciate architecture and interiors and this place is so unique and absolutely gorgeous you have to admire it (could be featured in Architectural Digest if it hasn't already!). The eco resort and rooms are built into the side of the peninsula over looking the ocean, Sayulita, San Pancho and the coast line in the distance. I fell in love with the grassy plant beds covering the rooftops. The gorgeous aesthetic of the buildings, room interiors and grounds took my breath away. I was obsessed. The rooms have large decks overlooking the ocean and there is a mini private beach below them only for people staying in the rooms above. There is also a pool below the rooms overlooking the ocean just for the guests above to use. The pool/beach club at the resort was absolutely insane, my husband and I were blown away how gorgeous it was - I can actually say this resort may have the most beautiful pool and beach club I have ever experienced with beautiful infinity pools, private beach and natural swimming pools in the ocean, saunas, jacuzzi, spa, gym and a phenomenal restaurant and bar. The staff at this resort was also beyond amazing and so attentive. We will be returning on our next trip to Sayulita.

Nothing! I loved every detail of this place. If you want to be right in the center of Sayulita within walking to all the shops, bars and restaurants this place may not be for you. You do have to drive ( we had a rental car) or rent a golf cart to get into the center of town, driving it is not that far however walking would be. I enjoyed this as I prefer not being in the middle of town as I find it a bit chaotic. Also, beware of the little Coati Mundi in the area. They are a wild animal that is ABSOLUTELY adorable but very nosey and will come in your room and grab your snacks if you do not lock the doors! LOL

"Our stay at Punta Tokipa was magical. It feels like a world away and yet very close to Sayulita."

10.0

The location is beautiful, perched on a hillside overlooking the ocean. It is an eco-lodge and is absolutely beautiful. We were met on the property by Christina who took us to our room and got us settled in. She was always there for us. When trouble broke out in Mexico, the hotel took care of all of our food needs for cooking in our rooms and adjusted our rate to help us out . Thank you to Christina and her staff. Also a big thank you to Jasmin for taking care of us as our server for all of our meals and pool service.

"Absolutely amazing."

10.0

Such an amazing place! The rooms were really large (even for our room which was the "smallest" one). The bathroom was fantastic, as was the small kitchenette. We woke up each morning enjoying a cup of tea on the balcony watching the sunrise and on dolphin watch (we saw one two mornings!). The facilities were also really amazing. There is a smaller pool for the exclusive use of the rented apartments, but we didn't end up using that and ended up using the more communal pool and private beach (and loungers). The restaurant serves great breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options, and were able to cater for gluten free (I have coeliac/celiac disease). The staff (shout out to Daniel, Richie and Jasmine) are lovely and attentive. There is also a (quite large) communal gym which we used every morning (treadmill, free weights, weights machine, mats, cross-trainer, recliner bike). Some of the equipment is a bit aged equipment, but while we were there it looked like some equipment was being upgraded. Definitely recommend hiring a golf cart (we rented one from in town as they were substantially cheaper than those offered by the property). There are parking spaces by the rooms and electrical plugs for charging. We didn't but the property also rents out stand up paddle boards.

The only two substantive points of attention I have are: (a) please supply more drinking water. The provided glass bottles, whilst refilled every day, were not particularly large (maybe 500ml?); and (b) as there is some wind it is not always the best to dry towels, swimwear etc on the balcony railing, a simple drying rack would be really appreciated. As on aside on how to improve these listings: I would include a map of the rented apartments "complex" (i.e. the five apartments which each contain 2 rooms) and the overall complex so that these multiple listings (on Booking.com / Air BnB etc) make sense and potential guests can visualise these rooms and the communal spaces. There is a map right by the stairs as you walk down, so someone should just take a photo of that and upload it to each of the listings and then make clear which listing is for which room.

"Unforgettable Stay at Tokipa – Five-Star Service"

10.0

Our stay at Tokipa at Punta Sayulita was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in luxury, tranquility, and truly world-class hospitality. A special shoutout to Rodrigo Olivares, the concierge extraordinaire, who went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable. He helped me plan a surprise for my husband’s birthday by beautifully decorating our room with festive balloons, banners, and even surprising us with a chilled bottle of champagne and glasses. It was a perfect and thoughtful gesture that set the tone for an incredible vacation. Rodrigo also made it easy for us to explore the area by arranging a golf cart rental for our stay. Thanks to him, we were able to cruise around Sayulita with ease and flexibility—which added so much to our experience. The beach club at Tokipa deserves its own praise. From the friendly and knowledgeable bartenders to the incredibly talented chefs and attentive servers, the service was consistently top-notch. Everyone we encountered was warm, helpful, and had fantastic recommendations that made our time at the beach club even more enjoyable. Tokipa is the perfect blend of natural beauty, luxury, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking to unwind in paradise, this resort is a dream. We’re already looking forward to our next stay!

Honestly, nothing. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend staying here for a peaceful yet luxurious getaway with top-tier service!

"Don’t stay here!!"

1.0

Avoid This Place – A Total Disappointment! I recently stayed at Tokipa and I am beyond furious about what was supposed to be an eco-luxury vacation. Upon arrival, I found multiple villas next to ours under construction, with loud saws and hammering ruining any chance of relaxation. The property is way too big to walk around comfortably, which isn’t mentioned anywhere in their advertising. Instead, they offered to rent me a golf cart for $80 USD a day! Can you imagine being hit with an unexpected $1,000 bill on top of the $5,200 I already paid, just to get around their own property? yet they have staff driving golf carts around ,Ridiculous! To make matters worse, the bar and restaurant are a steep almost 20 minute walk away, with no shuttle service provided. I was shocked to discover this upon check-in, as it was never disclosed before I booked. Hiking just to get a meal is not what I signed up for when paying $500 a night! I also booked a larger 775 sqft villa, but they gave us a much smaller 300sft standard room . Even after showing them my booking reservation they insisted that it was all they had. It was only after I threatened to leave that they finally offered to move us to the correct villa, which they tried to spin as an “upgrade.” Unbelievable! Their claim of being just 10 minutes from Sayulita is completely false. It’s a grueling 40-minute walk downhill through the jungle, through a cemetery with no lights, and then you have to hike back up that steep hill to your room. Oh and you can’t have your taxi take you to the room. They made him stop at the gate. This place is not the luxury jungle experience they advertise. After an hour of back and forth with staff, the only compensation they offered was a measly half-off dinner at the restaurant. We decided to not keep our reservation and leave for another accommodations.

I booked this stay with my partner to celebrate our anniversary, expecting a luxurious experience for a portion of our otherwise budget-friendly trip. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. Upon check-in, we were informed of an “upgrade” due to electrical issues with our room. The replacement was a secluded jungle cabin with an outdoor bathroom that had no mirror, dirt on the bed, mold stains on the ottoman, and poor lighting. The AC was blasting to mask the damp/musty wood smell and gaps under the door let in mosquitoes, the uneven floorboards made it hazardous, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work, leaving the TV useless. I had to fight not to be charged for this subpar first night. The room wasn’t the main issue though. On the day of our anniversary, we waited by the closed pool (we were told at check-in it would be closed that day) to be relocated. Staff mishandled our bags, which arrived covered in dirt, and the new room wasn’t even ready when we got there. I also tripped on the stairs, and a staff member later laughed about it to the cleaning staff. The room we originally booked was beautiful, but the poor service and frustrating experience ruined what should have been a special stay. A key portion of our trip, meant to celebrate our anniversary and enjoy the property’s amenities, was derailed. Additional notes: - The walk to town is 40 minutes—definitely book a golf cart!! - The food is mediocre, overpriced, and not vegan friendly - sunrise was gorgeous here
