Cosy flat at Westgate Canterbury

Just a place.. To stay.. near the town city

To be honest… We had to wash up kitchen utensils… Knife’s,folks,spoons..etc… All rather unclean..before using them. Parking In allotted parking bay… If you have a big car… You will not be able to park,properly as the parking bay, Is very small..and awkward to park .. We came to an arrangement with a neighbour. As we had a big car! Bedroom windows.. All bedroom secondary (inside glazing) windows..broken,letting in all the outside noises,from the main road,outside. Stairs to the flat.. Maybe..a problem for some folk.

The location was excellent The kitchen was well equipped and clean

The whole flat smells of smoke, it is especially strong in the bedrooms it is very unpleasant. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable and there were no extra pillows or blankets There was no information in the flat. I needed to text for the wifi code.

Beautifully clean and plenty of space. Great location, just a couple of minutes walk through Westgate into the heart of the city. Very useful to have a parking space, although rather tight with a large car. Kitchen had an airfryer as well as microwave, toaster and cooker.

It would have helped to know that the apartment block was almost on the corner with Orchard Street, or to have had a 'what 3 words' location. Google directions took the flat number as the number in the Road, and sent us to the wrong place. (Just enter the name of the appartment block!) We parked in a side street, located it on foot, then fetched the car. The host was very patient trying to guide us on the phone - we finally found it with his directions from the railway crossing.

The flat is well located close to Westgate and the delights of Canterbury.

The flat smells of smoke in all rooms. The bathroom was not adequately cleaned with a filthy shower screen and liquid soap all over the basin surround. I skipped using it for all but the essentials. The furniture in the sitting room was dusty, the windows uncleaned inside or out. The ladderrex unit was dusty and glass doors dirty. The kitchen floor was sticky and the kitchen bin had rubbish in it. One bedroom was clearly made with fresh linen, the other I was unsure of, the sheet looked used, it was certainly stained in places. The pillowcases may have been changed as they were mismatched to the duvet cover. The bedroom are roadside, so noisy throughout the night. Our 3pm arrival was delayed by the owner for 1 hour on the day. On arrival the front door key would not work. We had to wait an additional 45 mins for this problem to be resolved. Not a great start. Parking is through a narrow arch and the allocated parking space is only suitable for a small hatchback - no mention of that in the details! The owner has left nothing to welcome his guests, no wifi code, no tourist information, no milk to make a coffee or tea on arrival. The decor style maybe be aimed at shabby chic, but it is definately more shabby than chic. The flat needs some love, carpets and furnishings are tired and damaged. This feels like low quality accomodation in need of attention the photos are flattering. For the price point there are better alternatives available nearby. Not somewhere I would stay again.

Lovely flat in a great location, equipped with everything you need and parking. Competitive price point, we would definitely stay here again if in Canterbury.

Only down side would be it can be loud in the bedrooms in the early morning as you are on main road but it’s not too much of a problem, if your a very light sleeper bring ear plugs.

Great location.... clean and tidy.... well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. I believe it was good value for money. Nice stay. .

The allocated parking space is a little small. We were in a Yaris. I think large cars would have a problem using it.

Living room was quite nice and faced the car park so quiet No issue with beds or bedding Host responded quickly when messaged

- to get to lockbox for keys had to navigate overspilling communal rubbish bins it was positioned behind in dark - smell of damp in communal area of the purpose built block of flats - bedrooms faced a very busy road & windows wouldn't shut so while nice to be walkable to centre, the traffic noise woke us up - kitchen, bathroom, carpets very tired and old - half empty bottles of wine and opened food packets - the place felt uncared for - as did we. For eg had to rummage for wifi code and ask for an iron. Shouldn't have needed to trouble the host - and wouldn't if he'd left just a bit of info. Also while am sure having a past guest nick your hairdryer must be annoying(!), to just say one has been ordered & leave it at that at start of a three night stay wasn't the best -- and no coffee maker of any kind meant we had to buy one. Appreciate the price was competitive but overall we found this a depressing place to use as a base for three nights. We stayed in 6 places this summer in as many weeks (were between houses) and this is the only one we wouldn't rebook.
