PENSION TOKA EVA

Our reservation was cancelled by the owner who didn’t even notify us about it and sent us to a different place. We realised we are not in Toka Eva when we got to the place where they transfered us. Funny, they charged for non existing service. First they try to avoid us and when we finally reached them to clearify the situation they pretend like everything is just absoluty fine. Think booking.com should take a closer look at this business.

Friendly host, and nice clean room. They offer breakfast and dinner, I’ll recommend both. They can arrange transfer from the airport and also various excursions.

The roosters are loud at night, so don’t forget earplugs

It feels like home. I loved having coffee in the morning facing nature. It is very similar to a little ranch in Brazil. I loved the eggs, from free running chickens, with hot bread. Sharing the space with other guests was an enriching experience. It is a family home, and the hosts are very kind and welcoming. The boat/hiking tour the family offers is amazing. The place is very clean as well, and it is well located. A car is needed for independent tours. I didn't have any, but I like walking around and I had a ride to wherever I needed.

- communication is not possible in English - you can have a car starting from the airport. It was not mentioned though that the pick up fee is half of the price of the car.

Matu and family are incredibly generous hosts! I was there to do research in Nuku Hiva, and Matu went to incredible lengths to connect me with community members. They are all genuinely nice people at the pension, and we also enjoyed the other guests. Facilities were spotless. Breakfasts were outstanding! Matu is also a great excursion leader.

As someone from the PNW, I would have loved to have air conditioning in the bedrooms. I know it's an unreasonable ask, but that would've helped my comfort. But I survived just fine.

I felt like i was Home. The lady there was so sweet and made us feel comfortable. Definitely recommend
