Opoa Beach Hotel

Great looking hotel and beautiful landscaping! The hotel has a tropical Polynesian look that fits the location. Comfortable room, zero issues with mosquitos or bugs inside the room, and minor outside the room. Clean and quiet area. Beautiful patio with a view of the ocean. Amazing lagoon with gorgeous turquoise and blue water. Gorgeous wild life. Food here is great, service is excellent. Polynesians as usual were extremely friendly and wonderful. New Year's party was excellent including good music, food, fireworks and dancing.

There is no beach, yet beach is in the name. So you can't just lay in the water you have to walk off the dock and swim far into the lagoon or kayak to hangout in the clear blue water. The water close to the dock or cement edge is very shallow and dark and too close to coral. The kayaking mixed with the high uv led to the worst sun burn of my life reaching a 2nd degree burn. Extremely painful. I've lived in tropical countries and I am half Brazilian and was surprised to be burned. Please bring spf clothing and hats and cover your face while on the dock and kayaking. The reflection of the turquoise water with high UV seriously burns. I Wish the hotel mentioned something to us about the UV. I thought the owner was very nice but my husband didn't like the vibe at the end of our stay because there was no happy farewell or goodbye necklace. Instead it was a bill for a $60 egg charge and no other hotel on our 5 week vacation in french Polynesia charged for eggs in there included breakfast. As well an attempted $20 charge for 6 coffee pods. Not a great ending to our stay. ***Not the hotel's fault but this was the only island with insufferable guests, mostly french people that lack social etiquette. All you see are frowning and snearing faces, stares and dirty looks. Even during a beautiful new year's celebration. The French are more light hearted on all the other islands like Bora Bora, and Taha'a and Hunahine. If your America stick to the other islands.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à l’hôtel Opoa Beach ! Les patrons et le personnel sont adorables, toujours souriants et aux petits soins. Le logement est très mignon, cosy et extrêmement reposant, parfait pour déconnecter. Le restaurant est incroyable — je suis moi-même cuisinier, et j’ai fait de très belles découvertes culinaires, pleines de finesse et de saveurs locales. Le lieu est vraiment apaisant, idéal pour se ressourcer. Je recommande à 100 % !

Petit bémol : il y a beaucoup de fourmis, et donc quelques lézards attirés par elles, ainsi qu’un service de pressing qui nous a malheureusement rétréci quelques chemises. Mais le personnel est tellement gentil que nous n’avons rien osé dire. Malgré ces petits détails, une superbe expérience que nous n’oublierons pas. 🌺
