The Swiss Hotel Freetown

This was my second time in Freetown and this time I chose to stay at Swiss Hotel (a much better deal and hotel than New Brookfields Hotel). It is very safe, well decorated with character, staff are very friendly, responsive and accommodating. There is a nice outdoor pool and lounge area where you can dine or work outside underneath the patio. This was a nice little oasis in the busy city! Wifi was EXCELLENT in the bedrooms with no issues. Wifi in the lobby/restaurant was a bit slower. There's a backup generator that turns on fairly quickly when there are grid outages (not the hotel's fault). The restaurant has pretty good food too. I would highly recommend staying at Swiss Hotel.

The showers are very small (though management said they are actively redesigning the bathrooms). Room lighting was also on the low side, but with nice big balcony doors you can let natural light in. The fruit offered at breakfast could be more fresh...there is so much fresh fruit being sold on the streets!

Breakfast was good overall although the weekend options were better. I liked that I could have an omelet made to order. I stayed with my elderly mother and she enjoyed her breakfast and felt really welcomed by the staff.

The maintenance of the facilities could be improved. For example the toilet in 102 was dripping and the tap over the sink needs stabilizing. Also, the tiles could be cleaned so there is less evidence of mold. The towels were a little dingy! Guest should be encouraged to use the bathrooms to change after using the pool!

Nothing, it is all bad!!!! We were supposed to stay for a whole week, but we left the next day immediately.

Everything, it is HORRIBLE. Very dirty, the bed was uncomfortable, and the wifi wasn't working. The whole room had dark brown dust on its surfaces, there were ants in the bathroom. I cannot believe all the misleading reviews say it is a good place! the neighborhood is very loud and it is a ghetto area. It is not safe at all, you have the cross the street to go have breakfast on the other side of the building. it is also too loud at night, people were playing music in the street and you can hear it as if it was in your room. AND it is TOO expensive for its value!!!!

The meals were excellent.

The internet was horrible, the pool depth is not arrives properly.

The hotel is located at a sweet spot - Not far from Lumbley/Aberdeen beach roads and can easily get to most places around the city. Moreover, I like the staff alot. They are very polite and professional. Customer service is really on point at this hotel.
