"Had a great time at Bolongo Bay - only have one suggestion!"

8.0

We just returned from Bolongo Bay Beach Resort! I have so many GREAT things to say about this place! The food was SUPERB, the accomodations were nice, the staff was SO friendly and welcoming. We were looking for a small resort, and this was the perfect size. We took our kids and grandkids, so there were 11 in our party. The grandkids are ages 4 to 14, and there was something for all of them. They kayaked and swam and snorkeled until they were exhausted. I loved watching them swim up to the bar in the pool and get milkshakes! I highly recommend the swim with turtles excursion, and also going into St. John to visit the stunning beaches! I only have one suggestion for the resort. There was a lot of pushback from the hostesses when we expected to sit together at meals. (We had reservations) They definitely did not want to seat us together, and there was no reason for it. My husband has been in foodservice for decades, and understands pacing the kitchen so it doesn't get behind. This was not that. They would seat us at 2 different tables about 3 feet from each other, all of us ordering at the same time, and refused to put the tables together or allow us to do it except for maybe 2 meals. That may not seem like a big deal, but we don't live in the same place as our family, and we came to intentionally spend time together. We would go off on our own doing different activities during the day, and wanted to have our meals together to laugh and talk and share our experiences. That's what vacation is for - connection with the people you love. I would DEFINITELY go back, but only the expectation upfront that we would have our meals together as a family. That is really important to me. If they can fix this, I would absolutely give them 5 stars.

We got the all-inclusive stay and that was the best decision hands down. The resort is beautiful, and Iggies bar and grille was delicious. We only left to go try the banana daiquiris at mountain top. Everything else you could want, Bolongo Bay has. Swimming with turtles? Absolutely amazing and the crew and captain were amazing and hilarious. The staff at the resort treats you like family. Everything was amazing. I know people say the rooms are outdated and the bathroom is small, but honestly we weren’t in our room that much. And if you’re only going to a resort for the room… that’s lame. Our room had a balcony right next to igges so every night we could sit out and watch the ocean and still enjoy that night’s entertainment. We will 100% come back and recommend it to everyone we know. The all inclusive is the best way to go, you get breakfast, lunch, four course dinner with a bottle of wine every night, and all the drinks you could want. Seriously we probably drank our total cost of the all inclusive. Just stay here, its amazing.

The staff was very attentive. The location was great because we rented a car and it is in the middle of a lot of parts of the island- 15 minutes any way. Lots of water activities on site.

"Great all inclusive in St. Thomas"

10.0

My wife and I went here with our two boys (12 and 13). The resort was lovely. The food was outstanding. Staff was friendly. Everything we had was delicious and there was a wide variety of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The beach was a little small, but nice and they had some snorkeling gear, paddle boards, kayaks and corn hole on the beach. They had music every night at dinner.

"A quaint and family friendly all inclusive resort!"

10.0

My family had a wonderful time at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like we were right at home in paradise. We soaked up every minute—between the pool, the beach, and the delicious food, there was never a dull moment. One of the absolute highlights was the catamaran excursion to Buck Island, where we got to snorkel and swim with turtles—truly an unforgettable experience! Our stay wasn’t long, but it was packed with fun, relaxation, and memory-making.

"Pack em extra stomach"

10.0

If you’re looking for the 4 or 5 star hotel room and room service then stay away. But if you’re looking great service, serious fun, no worries and to buy worry about where you’re eating everyday, then book Bolongo. The live music daily, the fresh food made to order and the wonderful staff make you feel right at home. The next time we will stay longer. The Sargassum didn’t scare us away. The hotel accommodated for it even though their beach was habitable and enjoyable. Pack an extra stomach because we couldn’t breathe the good was so good. Bolongo beach is also pretty the pictures don’t do it justice. We left and went to other beaches and scheduled around our food reservations. I love it there and can’t wait to return. Here’s your must get list: Pain killer drink Bolongo Breeze drink Mango Tango (kids) BBC drink Bang bang tacos Mango jerk wings Please consider the specials of the day!!!!

"Adding a different perspective - not a 4 or 5 star experience whatsoever"

4.0

My husband and I were there for his 40th birthday. This is something we’d been looking forward to for months, especially after a particularly difficult year. We chose Bolongo Bay for its character, local authenticity, and reputation for warmth. The all-inclusive package was really the thing to move the needle on our decision. We knew we weren’t signing up for luxury, but we were hoping for something special. And for a brief moment, that’s what we got. Our first night and day were lovely. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay painted a very different picture. Over the course of the week, we were met with a level of dismissiveness and hostility from waitstaff and front desk staff that was frankly baffling. Menus were snatched out of our hands, drinks were slammed on the table, and we were repeatedly scowled at, ignored, or made to feel like we were somehow the problem for simply being there. Worse, we overheard loud, angry arguments complete with screaming and profanity from the kitchen during dinner service, even with children present. And we had multiple staff openly express to us how unhappy and miserable they were at work. That level of emotional leakage may be human, but it leaves guests (especially those paying over $7K for a stay) feeling awkward, unwelcome, and frankly a little foolish for expecting otherwise. We did have bright spots. Captain Dave and the Heavenly Days crew were phenomenal, and a few staff members were genuinely warm. The boat rides were a thoughtful touch, and we appreciated them. The food was delicious. But overall, what we encountered didn’t match the reviews or the reputation... and from what I’ve since seen in a few Facebook group comments, we’re not alone. I know Bolongo Bay has heart. But something in the culture has clearly shifted. I hope this helps bring attention to it, because people want to love this place. We did too. We truly wanted Bolongo Bay to become “our spot” for a recurring getaway, something to share with family and friends. But at this point, we’ll likely be looking elsewhere.

Beautiful location, nice restaurant in site and overall good service. Older property, and shower did not have reliable temperature too hot then too cold). Fitness center was very small and dreary. Outdoor on site restaurant was very nice, good food and great views.
