"Good for a short and quick stay in Tōya"

9.0

It is almost fully self-serviced, with a short introduction at the beginning. Quite tiny, extremely thin walls but clean and well-thought space usage. Common bathroom. The location is great, close to the lake, and you can go and see it any time (mornings, evening fireworks, and such). Maybe it is the onsen town, but I found it pretty pricey comparing to other hotels with breakfast and bigger rooms with a separate bathroom.

I think it would be great to have an electric kettle (and some mugs?) in the dining area.

Friendly staff, ease of access, has all the basics. Enough pre-shower space

Locker being away from the bedroom makes sorting out luggage more troublesome, curtain slightly stuck when pulled

"Beautiful lakeside stay with fireworks"

9.0

Beautiful, modern guesthouse steps away from the Toya lake. The front of the guesthouse is a cafe, which closes at 3pm. The guesthouse has its own private, free parking at the side of the building. It is an easy 5 minutes' walk from the bus terminal. There is a common area and sauna on the first floor, as well as a toilet and two shower rooms. The dormitories and private rooms are on the second floor. This is a great place to stay if you're on a budget or don't want to pay for an onsen hotel you won't enjoy. Plus, it is really cozy and can accommodate max 12 people at the same time. Would stay again.

Eating out at night in an onsen resort can be difficult as most visitors will have dinner at their hotel, so options can be limited. If you are not vegetarian, I recommend the izakaya, Ippei, a 10 minute walk from The Toya.

"It is great and convenient place to stay"

8.0

The dinner is convenient, and the place is clean with many facilities.

The staircase is small, will be hard for some people with huge luggage. The double deck bed is shaky and noisy, it will be bad for those light sleeper that can’t easily woke up by the noise
