Palette Heritage Scindia Ghat formerly East View

The view was awesome. Specially I booked this hotel for the view and it really worth it. The roam are spacious and with good facilities.

The location is good but to reach the location you have walk through the banaras galli which is not at all clean and while in rainy season it would be horrible.

First of All I had a confirmed reservation at Palette Heritage Scindia Ghat from 22nd Feb 2025 to 25th Feb 2025. I had confirmed the same with the hotel prior to check in and also with Oyo as it is attached with OYO. When i reached the Hotel ( which i had to come walking for at least 30-40 mins from Maidagin chowk) on 22nd Feb 2025 at around 5.30pm along with my family, the person at reception denied us check in and said he didn't have any confirmation about our stay. I tried to call Oyo and Booking.com which said that our stay is confirmed. When contacted the hotel Manager, he denied the confirmation. So we were all left stranded in the evening with our luggage and no clue where to go. upon enquiry we came to know that the Hotel Manager had purposefully allotted our confirmed rooms to a group of foreigners who had checked in before us. With zero sense of responsibility, this property is fraud.

I had booked a long time ago with this place. It clearly stated that no prepayment was required. Then some time after my booking it, it sent a demand for payment. I contacted booking.com who said they would tell the property it could not do that. I contax=cted the property too, though they did not reply My booking arrangements with booking.com clearly showed that I had a booking, even on the day I arrived in Varanasi I was having trouble accessing the hotel due to the road closure so i rang the hotel. Who said I had no booking because I had not paid ahead. There was I, an elderly person, ina city with a massive influx of people, millions each day, from the Khumba Mela. That is not an OK thing to do to people. If they wanted payment ahead they should have specified that at the time of advertising their property. Don't trust them.

Breakfast was good.

The hotel would only accept cash even though I paid the deposit online. It took me many hours to find an ATM that worked.

Booked a room a month in advance for a crucial trip during Kumbh, only to be told last minute that my booking was canceled and shifted to another hotel. Adding to the frustration, customer care claimed it was due to rooms being sold out—so what’s the point of booking early? This caused immense trouble for my family, forcing us to scramble for alternatives which by the way was not provided by booking.com at the worst possible time. What’s even more unacceptable is the lack of a proper policy to protect customers from such last-minute cancellations. If a customer cancels at the last moment, they are sometimes charged a fee—so why is the same not applied to hotels? Cancellations from the hotel should come with proper compensation for the customer. This experience was utterly stressful, poorly handled, and completely unacceptable!

The hotel cancelled my room reservation. As per Booking.com no advance was required whereas hotel said they cancelled my reservation as I did not pay advance amount. This is really frustrating experience with booking.com
