Villa San Pietro

Location is excellent. Postcard views. Our host Mirco was gracious, generous and accommodating. The property itself is several olive-tree covered acres located on a ridge overlooking Porto Venere. The owner maintains a small flock of sheep and other animals, lending a very bucolic feel. This is a 2-bedroom, 1-bath home. The kitchen is very well supplied, though don’t expect a microwave in Italy. The listing specified breakfast, which is there- though it consists of fruits, eggs yoghurt etc in the fridge. Actual breakfast is DIY, which wasn’t a problem for us.

1. COMPLETELY out of host’s hands … the Italian military was conducting heavy artillery testing 2 of the days we were there. They literally shook the property. This isn’t a place for ex-military with PTSD. My wife quickly adjusted and didn’t think it was a big deal. YMMV 2. The shower is small and found it difficult to regulate the temp. (A luxurious shower is important to me. Maybe less so for others.)

We had a beautiful view of the Portoverene village. The kitchen was stocked with lots of food and the Nespresso machine was great. Our hosts gave us great tips on touring the villages and restaurants. They translated websites so that we could find the proper trains and check in for our flight back home.

It was a bit difficult to figure out the bus schedule to travel down to the village and return to the villa from the village.

We loved the view and the apartment was really well equipped and clean. Also the breakfast was very good and generous. We would like to come back and stay there again.
