Four Winds House

This is a wonderful, large, comfortable, elegant house in a relaxed rural location, on a small hill at the edge of a village. We were just three visitors, but there is easily enough room for six. The view from the main rooms is spectacular - looking out across farmlands and the village to the vast expanse of the ocean. The bird life around the property is abundant. We watched goats, geese, poultry in the fields below the house - but because of effective sound-proofing there was no noise. The nights were silent. We also spent some time with binoculars looking out for whales, but no luck this trip. Maybe next time. The facilities of the house were complete and of very good quality. All kitchen, washing, dish-washing supplies etc. were provided. There was bread, butter, jam, soft drinks etc. waiting for us. And there was an excellent silver coffee percolator in the kitchen - of course with real coffee too. In a location like this, a car is necessary - and then everything is within an easy drive. There are very good restaurants in the local villages ( some open only for lunch in May), and the beautiful city of Angra do Heroísmo is only 25 minutes away. Driving on the excellent central roads across Terceira and the other islands we visited is an absolute pleasure. The best part of this stay was the excellent communication with Marta, and the support of Luisa. Everything about arrival, entry, usage of appliances etc. was clearly explained, and there was almost instant response to any questions we might have. I can’t think of anything about our stay here that could have better (except perhaps for the weather on Thursday, but that’s another story). Overall, one of the best (of many) places we have been lucky enough to stay in over the past few years.
