Clean, and space in the rooms. Great location

The room was great, plenty of room and welcoming. It was nice and toasty when we checked in which I loved as it was a cold day! Everything was catered for and the bed was really comfortable. It was quiet and a nice location. The Duke William hosted a party for my Uncles 70th and did an excellent job. We stayed for drinks after the party and was surprised at how quiet the pub was on a Saturday, the pub itself is lovely and has a good choice of drinks. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

If I'm being really picky, the toilet in the room the flush kept flushing when you pressed one of the buttons but was easily rectified by pushing the other button. Also the lack of a cooked breakfast on offer. But neither of these things impacted our stay.

We arrived and began to settle in for the night when we heard footsteps and movements above our head, there was loft access into the room from above, this really scared us so we did not feel comfortable sleeping there, we left at 11.30 PM and told them what happened, we gave the keys back and stayed at Travelodge instead, at least we would feel safe there. We phoned the next day to get a refund as we did not sleep there but they said they will get Lyn to get back to us, I asked the pub if they had investigated the noises and they said 'no' which concerned me. I rang again on the Monday after to get a refund and applied for a refund through Booking.com. The Duke William refused, not even offering a partial refund. Booking.com were no help either, so basically we paid for a room that we were too scared to stay in with no refund. Very unfair. They did not take our fears seriously either, very disappointed.

We were unable to get a taxi but we should have pre-booked it.

Only stayed one night, was attending a Veterans funeral in the area, made very Welcome by the staff
