Isalo Rock Lodge is likely the best accommodation we got in nearly a month across Madagascar. The rooms are well designed, clean, spacious and with a luxury feeling reflected for example in the huge font-window hot tubs facing the rock formations. Service is up to standard for a 4-star hotel. Swimming pool area is really a plus (even in winter time).

Good location. Spacious terrace which we unfortunately didn’t use because of cold weather.

The room is uncomfortable. About a quarter of the room is occupied by bathtub which is absolutely useless because of almost no water pressure. To fill up that bathtub would take 3-4 hours. Also in the room was just one chair. They provided a bathrobe but no slippers. The room was cold and poorly soundproofed. The toilet was smelly. And all these ‘benefits’ for good 190 euros per night without breakfast.
