Salt Life Escape

My stay was severely compromised by inconsiderate tenants within the same block of flats. As a result I stayed only one of my two booked nights owing to continual slamming of adjacent doors and occasional shouting during the night. I have no idea what prompted this anti-social behaviour but it did not feel normal. I did read a similar earlier critique of the property but this was after I had committed to a booking.. unfortunately. The flat was adequate, if not particularly well maintained, and the building had a very run-down feel. An email to the host detailing my adverse experience was not replied to. There appeared to be remote/covert monitoring of the key-box during my stay, presumably on the pretext of checking whether I had actually arrived; to make matters worse the code of the key box had been left on a compromised 'open' setting after this intervention. It goes without saying that I could easily have been contacted directly to confirm occupancy.

The bed was comfortable

The room was decorated well but in a really old building. The photos make it seem it’s quite nice and comfortable but the building is really run down and I had an awful nights sleep due to neighbours. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything above, below and next to you. I’m not entirely sure if there are multiple rooms which belong to the hosts but the guests were so loud, slamming doors until 2am. There were also no milk, which I found odd as most hotels offer an assortment of herbal teas or sachets. Even long life would do, just to have something when you arrive. I wouldn’t stay here again. If the building was quieter, I think I’d feel differently but a poor nights sleep really down the experience.

Had a microwave in the room so was able to have a meal from the local supermarket. Room was a good size for Brighton and in a great location. Bed was comfy.

The mattress was too firm for me but that’s a preference. Check in was so easy and the owners were great to deal with, professional and excellent communication.
